Well, here they are (when did the car parking go up? :? )

Tickets
Aged 12 to 64 years £36.00
Aged 4 to 11 years £25.00
Aged 65 and over £19.00
Aged 2 to 3 years £12.00
Registered Disabled / Carer (each) £22.00
Family of 3 £75.00
Family of 4 £100.00
Family of 5 £125.00

Car Parking (per car) £3.00

Now I love Drayton Manor Park, and have always defended them in the past, but come on - £36.00 to get in + £3.00 is taking the p*ss. They don't have anything on-park that warrants such an entrance fee.

That is obscene!

And there wasn't a parking fee at all before.

36! 30 is a lot for Drayton, 36 is crazy...

It really is!

[strike]I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Season Pass is next to see a price hike. After all, Drayton seem a little reluctant to release the prices just yet.[/strike]

*Edited to add* The Season Pass is now £60.

Do Drayton do any 2-4-1 type offers?

**** off am I paying £36 for that dump. :p

I admire their confidence!

Very few people pay full price for entry tickets anyway.

Family tickets are heavily discounted so perhaps they're deliberately pricing out the young adult market?

Drayton Manor won't be getting my money this year.

Ahhhh, but it suddenly makes a night at the hotel look like a bargain ;)

That is a lot, it really is. I think there's a double issue here though.

1. We don't know what kind of intake/gate figures there are. It may be that an increase in visitors has led Drayton to believe "they're worth it". Or it could be that they're seeing steady figures but aren't making enough money and feel the need to increase the ticket prices. We don't know if it's need or greed.

2. Look at the market around it. It may be need from point 1 but it's just a few pounds below the cost of Alton Towers. If you look at the quality difference between Alton and Drayton, it's a big gap. I don't like bumming up Alton (there are a lot of faults, etc) but the park is chock full of high quality attractions, it's generally clean and tidy, food is at the very least "edible" and things don't get left needing paint and maintenance for years after year after year. There's no way given local competition it's worth that amount.

I like Drayton, but there's just no way that the entry price can be justified for me to take the family there. Car parking also always sticks in my craw.

Wow. That's a bit steep. I think that they've took the "Rides to Worthy Price" ratio of Camelot. £36 is an absolute joke. If they don't do deals, I'm not bothering this year.

Their price increases have been taking the piss over the last few years. Seems like every year they're putting it up by at least £5!

They are the biggest price hikers this year, but Lightwater Valley (£21) and Camelot (£28) are also up by about 7%. None of these parks have new rides this year either.

People must be willing to pay it then, otherwise they wouldn't put it up!

Good on them, the more money they make the better investments we can expect to see in the future. I expect it has something to do with the hotel and how now it is technically a 'resort' I suppose. There's also a ton of 2-4-1's around (I've never paid full price for Drayton) So I don't see why it's a big deal.

That's something of a gamble as we won't know that until the season is up and running.

I'd daresay there's more to do at Flamingo Land than there is at Drayton. In fact no; there is, far better park.

£28.50 according to their website. FL that is.

I usually make time for at least one visit a season to Drayton, but that'll be called off this season as there is no chance I am paying that much to get into there and to be honest, I don't even want to pay their online price even if it is much more reasonable.

Their coasters are average at best and it is only worth going for Apocalypse (which has lost its appeal since Hurakan Condor) and Maelstrom.

I'll spend the money that Drayton would normally get, on going to Flamingo for the first time since 2008.

To be fair, when I visited in 2006, it was something like £23, with NO offers available, especially not BOGOFs, but maybe the od £2 off etc. Back then, I did pay £46 for two of us, but now there are a ton of BOGOF vouchers out there, 2 people would only work out at £36, so technically cheaper than 6 years ago.

I see your point, I went in 2008 and it was £23 then and we paid full price as there weren't any vouchers around at the time. I intend to use clubcard vouchers to go this year, as I haven't been since that last visit, and £36 is way too much for Drayton.

I went last year and it was quite cheap if you booked online, thereabouts £20? If that is still the case then its not too bad, but there`s just no way i`d pay that full gate price for DMP.

I'd pay £36 just to ride Maelstrom all day.

Nah seriously, they may have gotten Ben 10 last year, but other than that whilst I personally enjoy their line-up, it's not very well looked after and perhaps not enough (decent) rides to warrant that price. Maybe with all the recent brand tie-ins they think it's okay to raise the price like this?

Pretty sure there are enough BOGOFS around, not to mention the cheaper prices online, to make the walk-up price irrelevant. FortherecordI'dratherpay£36forDraytonthan£39.20forChessy,a.k.a.kidsplayground

After visiting Drayton yesterday and noticing lots of changes (some big), I'm starting to think the increased entry cost is justified:

Apocalypse has new restraints across all cars

Maelstrom (and several other rides) now have wooden platforms

The queuelines for some rides have been cleaned, repainted and updated.

The paving is in the process of being replaced

Ben 10 features a mascot/actor now

And finally, the Excalibur entrance. I can't say I'll miss the ride

Well...

They appear to have a 2 tier AP system now, like Merlin.

The £60 one is called a 'season pass' and is valid from 17th March till 2nd November.

That doesn't sound TOO spiteful, as long as you purchase at the start of the season, but when you look at the small print it doesn't include parking AND they spite you from the fireworks weekend (3rd/4th November), which is obviously a highlight of the season for most regular guests.

The normal annual pass, which is valid for a year from the date of purchase, includes parking and unlimited acess to the park (and Zoo during winter). But, it's £99.

Bit spiteful really... I like to visit Draytes once a year and would be tempted to buy a pass for £60 if I was back in the West Midlands again. However, getting spited by the Fireworks rules that out, and parking would add up. There's no way I'd fork out £99 either.

^^Sorry, but a bit of maintenance, does not justify those prices. It just doesn't.

Obviously, few people pay full price because of BOGOF vouchers etc., but that's really not the point. The point is that they're pricing themselves as a comparable park to Alton Towers.

They're not even close.
