.ANAHEIM, Calif. --
Will the Force be with Disney fans this weekend?

The Walt Disney Co. is cracking open the vault, rolling out the red carpet and pulling back the curtain for more than 45,000 expected fans at this weekend's D23 Expo, a three-day celebration of all things Disney.

The extravaganza is across the street from Disneyland at the Anaheim Convention Center, but Disney fans in Central Florida can expect to learn new information about current and future theme park projects, including the upcoming "Avatar Land" expansion to Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Disney announced in 2011 that it had struck a deal with filmmaker James Cameron to build attractions based on the top grossing film of all time, which is set on the lush alien world of Pandora. Cameron is also currently working on three sequels to "Avatar."

The D23 expo will also include special musical performances, presentations and previews of other upcoming projects.

However, a possible peak at what's to come from the "Star Wars" galaxy could steal the show.

Disney bought George Lucas' Lucasfilm empire last year for $4.06 billion and plans to unleash a new "Star Wars" trilogy and two spin-off films beginning in 2015 with "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is being directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Michael Arndt.

There's also been some recent buzz about a rumored Star Wars-related addition to Disney's Hollywood Studios, but Walt Disney World spokesman Bryan Malenius told us in June that they had "nothing to announce" at that time.

But that was then. We'll see what happens this weekend.

There's apparently a bunch of crates at the Imagineering display labelled "Orange Harvest", as a mishmash of Orange County and Blue Harvest and some other teases, too.

Yeah from what I could tell from my Twitter feed during the press preview it's just teases towards the expansions that have been rumoured for a long time. Disney themselves announced that nothing new about new attractions for parks will be announced/on show apart from a few teases for Star Wars and Avatar oh and a model of the Downtown Disney re-do.

I do hope they don't over do it with Star Wars though.

There are very strong rumours going round that California adventure is getting expanded and getting a Marvel area. They are meant to have bought some hotels there to knock down.

Paris is also meant to be getting this along with a studio re theme, sort of what we expected.

Time will tell but as Peep said I'm just expecting the rumours to be confirmed then we can hear from youngster_joey about all the budget cuts :)

This down town Disney stuff is meant to open 2014, that's a lot of work to do in a year.

Oh I didn't quite click it was meant to be done by next year lol. Yeah that's not happening :P Although apparently two of the car parks have already closed and half of the new junction has been constructed, it has already caused lots of issues with parking and traffic as you can imagine but I suppose to fix that solution it has to get worse while they fix it lol.

Yes they are advising people to use the bus and not drive there, they have put on extra busses.

Sounds like the car parks will be done by 2014 then the rest 2016, really hard to tell. I'm getting the information from the dvc forum as the walk way from a dvc hotel is closed.
