Das ist Numberwang at Bobbejaanland

I noticed this when I visited this a year ago, but forgot all about it until I went back on Monday. At Bobbejaanland, practically every ride has a sign 'hidden' somewhere round it which just consists of a load of numbers. Can anyone please explain why?! Is it some Pokémon style "gotta catch 'em all" thing? If so, what's the point? What do you get if you spot them all?

Can anyone shed any light at all on this, because it's been driving me mad!

Re: Das ist Numberwang

A picture might be quite helpful, it's difficult to visualise what you're talking about.

At a guess, could it be some sort of barcode system for the rides. For example, if a train needs a new harness they can 'just' phone up the manufacturer, quote the barcode and then a restraint can be made/sourced that is the correct colour/size/shape etc? The manufacturer would keep a bit database of all the specifications of the coaster so they can get the parts quickly and easily.

That's my guess anyway, like I said, a picture might make a bit more sense...?

Re: Das ist Numberwang

No, definitely not that. although I can see how my 'description' was misleading. These were definitely put there for the benefit of guests. They were (mostly) massive colourful signs somewhere hidden-but-obvious around the ride. For example, under the dropping floor of the giant frisbee, so you could only see it when the ride was in motion. That particular one was bright green and red, took up the entire size of the 'pit' under the ride and (I believe) featured lots of 4's and a 1 in a pretty pattern.

They're clearly there for guests to 'spot', but I don't understand why. I didn't take any photos myself and I can't find any online. I'm hoping someone else took some on Monday, but I fear we were all too busy shouting "NUMBERWANG!" at them.

Re: Das ist Numberwang

Was it only at one park, or did you see it all over the place? I've never noticed it at any parks I've been to.

Re: Das ist Numberwang

Only at Bobbejaanland. Like I said, it was on practically every ride (I definitely spotted them on the giant frisbee, eurofighter, kiddie coaster, king kong ride, monorail, log flume in a shed etc etc). They were definitely there when I visited a year ago, but I guess I never gave it much thought until we all picked up on it on Monday.

Well then that means it's just something they're only doing there. I wonder if there is a pattern (eg numbers not being reused on other rides or a pattern in the order of the numbers). I just had a brief Google and couldn't see anything obviously.

Even though I've never seen these things, I'm intrigued now too!

Sue took a photo of the monorail one!

This is more typical.

We didn't get park maps because they're expensive. Anyway, they'd be in foreign.

I would check last year's one, but I have a nasty feeling I gave Ian the wrong bag o'park maps, so I don't have it any more :'(

Liseberg do a similar thing on their rides, though I'm not sure that they are the same thing. Liseberg have them for a competition where groups of people (usually from businesses or similar) can form teams (like a team exercise) and compete with others by solving a number of problems by spotting these numbers/letters/colours while riding...

I splashed out on a park map (it wasn't very absorbent), but there's nothing on there about this at all.

I've noticed them too. I remember one at Sledge Hammer, but also somewhere hidden in Indiana River. I have no idea what it actually means. Probably again one of these special things Bobbejaanland does that no one understands.

Although it might be something for this special programs for schools Bobbejaanland offers...I don't know.

After seeing the video Nic posted, this was my first thought. Some sort of treasure trail type thing?

Ooooh, AJ has just posted a great photo of the one on the powered coaster

Still nobody with a definitive answer on this one?
