Crowds

D1993

Hyper Poster
I was wanting to make a trip to Kings Doninion and I was wondering if anyone knows what the crowds will be like this weekend? 28th and on.
I thought it may be busy because it's a weekend.
Ive also asked numerous questions about crowds at different parks, so I thought maybe we could leave this thread open for people to ask questions about crowds at parks.
Cheers :)

There's a website somewhere that collects crowd data. I'm sure that somebody, somewhere will have it bookmarked.

Basically, if you go on 24th April to Alton Tower, you go to this site and say "Nemesis longest queue seen 45minutes, Air 2 hours... etc". It then collates as much information from each day as it can to try and work out averages for times of year etc.

Really useful bit of kit and something that we should all be using to help out. However, I'm embarrassed to admit I've never bookmarked it :(

Ok cool!
I'm assuming though because its not school holidays or anything that late april would be a time when the park is pretty quiet.

I have never heard of it but sounds very useful! Now, let's hope somebody posts a link in this thread and I will bookmark it!

Do you mean whentoride.com

...because if so, that doesn't exist anymore. That's embarassing, should have checked before posting >:C

Yep, it's gone. I'd have checked out if it still existed if I'd have known what it was called :P

So, going spare, one domain and the idea to create a living database of the best time to ride :)

Ta da!

If you're going on a weekend, go on a Sunday. That wouldn't work in the UK / Europe, but a lot of the American parks are quieter on Sundays because people go to church and ****.

Oh, it does.
Probably for very different reasons, but Thorpe & Alton in particular are a lot more bareable on a Sun than a Sat.

Yeah, Friday and Saturday are the busy theme park days over here. Sunday is almost a weekday, because we're all easily suaded and take advantage of religious laziness.

I find that because Public Transport is dire on Sundays it puts SOME of those people going and visiting parks etc...

^Yeah, it's WAY more likely to do with public transport, especially for parks like Alton, than it is even remotely to do with religion.

You could argue that religion, somewhere down the line many years ago, is the reason for reduced public services I suppose, but for the individual? Not so much.

Theme parks are still busy on Sundays here, I have no idea wtf you're all talking about.

In the US they are DEAD, especially in the morning. One good thing about religion.

It's also better at Southern parks compared to the Northern ones as the South is much more religious then the North in comparison.

Parks over here are quieter on a Sunday, Joey is chatting ****.

It has more to do with spiteful public transport and people not wanting to be tired for work/school. Sundays are more of a rest day, even for the non retarded... I mean, non religious.

^ I agree to the extent of certain park's (DMP,PBB,Alton), but i wouldn't say quiet, more bearable than a Saturday sum's it up well. Thorpe on the other hand is Awful on a Sunday! even with crap weather you can expect Q's of at least an hour...

Yeah Joey, stop chatting bubbles :P

Of the weekend days over here, Sundays are the quietest (well, outside of the London area). They're not empty, but they're much much quieter than the Saturday. On a bank holiday too, the Sunday tends to be the best day (quite odd).
