Hey ...

Everyone knows alton towers right well they are competing with thorpe park to be with loads of extreme thrills but it should be a family park. Chessington also is going to be an older age group(10-12) but don you think they should keep the park how it is and get family attractions

thanks for responses

Alton, Thorpe and Chessington are all owned by Merlin, surely they work together as one company as well as seperate parks.
Each park wants to provide a great expierience, Alton is trying to get this resort image, with that they need attractions that cater for all ages.
Where as Thorpe Parks main audience is 12+, hence them getting more thrill oreientated rides.

I wouldn't say Alton are trying to compete with Thorpe at all, it was Altons choice to go down the family route and I think it was a wise choice in a way.
Thorpe is easier to get to so will always get younger guests, where as Alton is harder to get to by public transport in a way, and with more to Offer familes often choose the family friendly front that Alton has to offer.

Well, this is another poorly researched topic.
No park within the company is competing. They all have a bunch of priorities to sort out since the change over from Tussauds to Merlin and then, and only then, can they move forward. They are not competing, they are improving what they've been given.

And so begins the onslaught of Saw/SAW/SAW!!!!/SaW123/ThorpeSAW/sawforp321/THORPE!!! new members who will disappear in a week. It had to come eventually....

Hmm so instead of welcoming new members and pushing them gently in the right direction you slag them off? Good work peeps.

I think Alton has always been in the middle grounds between young and old. Either age catergory can have an excellent day/weekend there and there's plenty to do.

Thorpe and Chessington have the problem where they're trying to attract the different age groups which puts off families. Do you split up the family and take the older ones to Thorpe and the younger to Chesssington, or bear and grunt the agnony of spending a day in just one park where one side of the family will most likely be bored.

I don't go to Chessington without CF for the fact that it's not a very exciting place (neither is Thorpe tbh) but atleast that has better rides. The only exception being Dragons Fury, but tbh even that's not great.

In your first post you say that they are competing and then you have a few, and write that they are sister parks?
