I like the T Rex cover & Get Well Soon's cover of Born Slippy is interesting, but doesn't hold a candle to the original imo.
Some of my all time favorites are Aztec Camera's cover (the Loaded Version) of Van Halen's Jump.

Tom Jones' cover of Prince's Kiss.

Jerry, I call your Tom Jones' Kiss and raise it with an Art of Noise AND Tom Jones Kiss!

Best cover I can think of on the top of my head is Bauhaus' cover of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie (inventor of the knife too, what a guy ).

It sounds like the original, but better (IMO). One of the few covers that is close to the original that succeeds.
Next one that comes close is probably the Jack off Jill cover of the Cure's "Love Song" (just for Taylor):

My favourite is Since U Been Gone by A Day To Remember:

I have a lot of the 'Punk Goes...' album series which is where a load of up and coming punk/metal bands do covers of whatever the theme of the album is. The latest is Punk Goes Classic Rock which is pretty sweet apart from the appalling Bohemian Rhapsody cover. Check them out if you like punk/metal versions of stuff =]
