Coaster at Ferrari World

Well... I'm not sure about everyone else, but those stats given look like bull to me. From view the POV, all I could tell is that it wasn't THAT fast. And a brake run immediately after? What's the point, I ask? It just seems like a loooonng draaaaaawn out Rita. And I honestly wouldn't travel two hours to go to a park with two coasters, even if one is claimed to be the fastest.

I also heard a rumor of a guy that went with a radar gun and clocked it in at 107 mph tops.

But anyway, my main thought is- What do the enthusiasts think? I have my few opinions (and I'm not looking for anyone to criticize them, so no essays), but I'm not sure where I stand.

On ride POV.

Thing is, I'm sure it is actually the World's Fastest Coaster. Them doing all the marketing they have done for it, including the HUGE signs naming it The World's Fastest, I'm sure that someone (Maybe Guinness World Records) would check up on it.

Yeah, it isn't much in terms of a layout, but it's all aimed at the launch, I thought that's obvious. Re: The brakes after the launch, they're merely trims, this coaster NEEDS them, if it just launched into the whole layout, I'm sure the forces would become somewhat unbearable through the WHOLE course. Yeah, at this moment in time, when you watch a POV, it looks like it's too slow, I'm sure riding it would be a lot better then POV's. A prime example of this is Khan. It doesn't look that good from a POV, but if you ride it, it's amazing. When you watch an onride video, you can never see in terms of forces how you would feel and the emotions the coaster would put you through. I think this is all it comes down to really. That's my opinion on the matter.

I've read recent reviews that say the layout feels surprisingly fast, with some good air on the final hills.

I'm putting it in the "probably better than it looks" category.

Me on youtube after seeing that POV said:
You know, I thought this coaster was going to be amazing, 0-142 in 4 seconds, Loads of speed, airtime and g-force especcially on those final Bunny hops. but it doesn't look more than 80, it definatly takes more time than 4 seconds to get to it's top speed and what's the point of those trims? They just wreck the the ride for me

That says what I think of the coaster now after watching the POV but even as Lofty put that this coaster needs the trims, Why trim it that much? It nearly comes to a standstill on those hills due to those trims. :x

EDIT: Found This video which makes the coaster look alot faster

Still doesn't look Quite 150mph but a lot faster than that other video.

Agree, pretty sure a lot of us out there can't handle a sustained 4G force for more than a few seconds.

If they never designed the ride with trims, I feel this would be A LOT bigger and wider in the turns, just to keep the forces at a safe level for a safe period of time.

Guinness wouldn't let them have the record if it didn't hit the speed specified. They check their facts.

Bottom line.

Yeah, having taken part in Guinness world record attempts (as have others here), they take it exceptionally seriously. It's not just some bloke with a clipboard going "so, you say it's 150mph? Okay, I'll believe you".

They would want absolute proof of the claim.

That does look really slow, Rita actually looks like it takes corners faster than that. In fact the layout is remarkably Rita-esque, just a huge version.

Im not saying it doesn't go 150mph, it most probably does but it must get trimmed to about 60-70, the deceleration is almost as impressive as the acceleration

I'm sure the acceleration is thrilling but the layout looks really repetetive, artime hill, banked turn, airtime hill, banked turn...how dull.

It doesn't deseve the title of worlds fastest coaster. It's hardly a 'challenge' to ride it like Kingda Ka is...

True, true... Little do people realise that to ride Kingda Ka, you have to make your way through the Tiger enclosure, fighting off the hungry felines with nothing but a sharpened jam sandwich and your wits.

Whereas Forumla Rossa, you are serenaded through the station on the backs of especially softened Persians with champagne and strawberries constantly offered to help ease your passage onto the ride.

Or alternatively, neither is actually a challenge to ride in any way, shape or form and this topic was very dead and rightfully so, unless people have something very specific to add having ridden the coaster

Err just to be burdenous to furie, here's another vid that suggests it takes almost 5 seconds to reach maximum speed (worth watching for the ridiculous English woman at the end)

According to the g-force log I have of Formula Rossa then the launch takes 4.4 seconds and have a force of about 2 g's...

If I was at the park, I probably wouldn't even bother riding this. You know, since it looks slower than 150mph on the POVs and stuff.
