Sunday 2nd August 2009

Yet another Sunday at Chessington: World of Adventures with Alan AKA Badger, his daughter and his niece. The weather was really nice, a little cloudy at times and it wasn't hot too which is always good in my books :P

I got to the park a little after 9:30 when the park opens the zoo. I took my usual trip to see the Meerkats :D Everyone who walks past then says 'compare the meerkats.com' which is now starting to grate, urgh.

So, yay for meerkats!

I then took a stroll past Sealion bay (looks like the new windows will be open for the public soon, woop. I entered Trail of the Kings not expecting to see much as it's usually when they get fed indoors but for the first time ever I spotted this hideous creature...

DSC04678.jpg

Yep, that's the disgusting Fossa which replaced the highly amusing Gibbons. WTF were they thinking here?

I then saw Lions sleeping (as always) and then spotted one of the Tigers, annoyingly it was just going inside...

DSC04680.jpg

This made me sad so I continued onwards. I then found myself in Creepy caves which was very hot. There were also loads of empty enclosures. Anywho these were the pics I took...

DSC04687.jpg

Fun. Well by now the park had opened and I went round to Black Buccaneer which was annoyingly still closed...

DSC04688.jpg

Oh wells, lets go over to Fury before the queue gets too long...

DSC04689.jpg

Woops, queueline was already full, seems everyone had the same plan. I then went to my back-up plan, Tomb Blaster!

DSC04691.jpg

This idea was more successful, it was walk on and all effects were working, woop. There was also a downside however, for some reason I got a terrible score compared to usual (usually something over 40,000). The score was probably the highest that day but still, I like to improve not get worse ....

DSC04692.jpg

I then walked over to Rattlesnake which was also walk-on, woop. The ride host was trying to get the cars sent out as quick as poss (same was on all rides) and due to her speediness I didn't get in properly, as a result I was sat in the middle with the bar inbetween my legs, my bag then flew all over the place as my legs weren't able to keep it secure. Made it an interesting ride.

DSC04693.jpg

I then went over to Runaway Mine Train. Who was the host on the ride, it was Matt! I haven't seen him in ages, was good to have a quick catch up. The ride was ok, the ride op was awesome :D

I then tried Black Buccaneer again. Hurrah it was open! Therefore I rode it...

DSC04695.jpg

Unfortunately I was one of the last peeps to board so I ended up in the middle (couldn't be bothered to wait for the next ride). Still enjoyable, especially watching everyone's reaction to the stupid amount of air time you get on it.

I then took a wander round to Transylvania to see what the queue for Vampire was like. VERY long, it was actually at the entrance of the queue, not seen that before.

DSC04696.jpg

But what is this I see...

DSC04698.jpg

Yay, they now have all three trains! For those not in the know, one of the trains was in maintenance for months which meant the queue took forever when busy. The queue was still silly, especially as I was still alone.

Due to most rides now having a stupid queue times I went round the zoo again :D This time I saw an animal I don't think I have seen in years, yep that's right, I saw the LEOPARD!

DSC04715.jpg

It was angry and kept walking round this section of the enclosure and then every now and then jump up and stuff, was amazing....

DSC04716.jpg

I then saw the Lions which were still sleeping and then I saw one of the Tigers which sat perched on top of the wooden thing posing for photos...

DSC04719.jpg

I saw Gorillas but they don't interest me, therefore there are no images. It was then time for Sea Life centre. I took quite a few pics, some came out, some didn't and some came out all funky...

I then headed over to Creature Features. I saw skunks!

DSC04754.jpg

I saw loads of meerkats (including the new baby meerkats). How many can you count?

Then I saw this weird thing, what is it?

DSC04770.jpg

Then I watched a kid doing the 'be a zoo keeper for a day thing', he was giving this Wallaby food...

DSC04774.jpg

I then strolled round to the Squirrel monkey walkthrough, fun times....

I then walked back to Forbidden Kingdom to go on Tomb Blaster again. I took a pic of Rameses' Revenge...

DSC04801.jpg

Then I waited ages in the queue for Tomb Blaster as it broke down for 15 mins :( I then proceeded to somehow do even worse than I did in the morning, urgh, not good

DSC04802.jpg
.

I then got a call from Alan to say that he had arrived (after being stuck in silly traffic) and that he was finishing up eating at the Greedy Goblin. So I headed over to meet Alan and Co at the Greedy Goblin. Shortly after we then did Hocus Pocus Hall which was great fun...

DSC04804.jpg

We then went over to Dragon Falls but it had a really really long queue so Alan's daughter and niece did the wall climbing thing, they are really good at it. Look at awesome theming...

DSC04806.jpg

We then went into Beanoland for the dodgems. The queue wasn't bad apart from the stupid wasps. The ride as always was good fun but not long enough. It was also nice to see the ride hosts enjoying their job (bopping their heads to the music).

We went into Land of the Dragons in search of Benin but we couldn't see him, but as we were there we went on Griffin's Galleon which I like riding.

Alan wanted to ride Vampire, his daughter and niece didn't so they decided to go play on the logs outside Hocus Pocus while we went and queued.

DSC04807.jpg

DSC04808.jpg

The queue was long but went down quickly, the ride hosts were operating it really well. When we were in the station some stupid peeps decided that all of them could go through the same air gate at the same time*facepalm* This resulted in a lot of confused people, luckily the staff managed to get them back in the queue and the right peeps on the ride. Alan decided to don his Vampire mask as usual which sparked the usual response from the staff and guests :D

Alan decided he wanted a drink so we all sat at the Greedy Goblin while Alan and I chilled out and his daughter and niece created chaos :P

It was now 5pm and the park had decided to let Annual Pass holders use exits and Express queues on all rides until park closing which had been extended and hour to 7pm, woop :D

We went and did Safari Skyway which we didn't have to queue for...

DSC04810.jpg

DSC04811.jpg

We then used the express queueline on Vampire (I've never seen an express queue so long). It was great as always. We then used the express queue on Bubbleworks which was funny.

DSC04812.jpg

We ended our day by going on Dragon's Fury. It didn't spin that much which was a shame. ORP time...

002.jpg

It was then time to call it a day as the park was closing. Alan and Co was their goodbyes and I bumped into Benin so I caught the train home with him while we discussed many things.

Overall it was an awesome day, I loved the animals, and I got on most of the rides which surprised me.

^Haha, yeah, I'm very good at it but those scores were terrible in comparison to my scores on previous trips

Also I've put all my photos in a facebook album now (147 photos!) which you can view HERE
