Get your friends to 'like' us to be in with a chance of winning a free trip to Camelot! If the number of people who like us on Facebook reaches 5000 by our opening date on 9th April, we will give away a family ticket (admitting 4 people free of charge) to 5 lucky 'likers' chosen at random! :)

If I had Facebook, I'd give it a whirl.

Ha. I've done it. I'd go in for free, but not for the unbelievable admission price they charge..

In terms of ticket pricing, they're actually one of the more reasonable UK parks for the 2011 season... (http://www.ukparknews.co.uk/entry/cms/?p=2949) ;)

I am automatically entered as I've been following them alreasy, and as I need the credz, and free entry would go down splendidly :)

When/if you go, then tell me if you think their entrance fee is reasonable...

Considering they want 5000 friends (or whatever it bloody is), only giving out 5 tickets seems a bit tight, considering the dire state the park is in.

Oh, and for the record, its £24 for an adult this year.....

(Nice website though)

^ Sorry, I thought you said £24 for an adult for a second then.

Hmm. This, Ladies and Gentlemen is how we ensure that we don't get return customers.

I've been to the park before. I might consider going back on a quiet day to re-ride Knightmare if the prices were reasonable. It'll be a cold day in hell before I pay for a train to Chorley, a bus and/or taxi to/from the park and pay that much to get into such a run down park. Especially when the park hasn't added anything of note for years.

I don't know if it's because I have a refreshed enthusiasm (courtesy of Thorpe's LC12), but I'm almost willing to give Camelot a second chance.

Yeah, I know I'm well in the minority and that £24 is far too much (Paultons or Lightwater for £19.50, Flamingoland for £23 FFS!) but it does have those twirly potatoes and the Diesel Dyke Coaster. Seeing as they've been in the touching-cloth doldrums for a few seasons, maybe they could turn it around this season and invest in 2012?

Ian, you gave it another chance the other year when we went, and it was still ****. Plus, we left before the monsoon came, and it got even more ****. That whirlwind piece of crap left my neck hurting for a couple of months afterwards too.

Being an entusiast an all, I always feel bad for constantly slating Camelot, and I feel like I should be supporting a park that is introuble, but the place really is crud. I honestly would think a lot better of it if they reduced the price to something more reasonable, such as £15.

It would be a good story though if it could suddenly become big again. They removed that awful Rack ride last year, so thats a big improvement.

And I think they've got the Bird of Prey show thing from Lightwater as a 'new for 2011' attraction, as well as some more animals for their farm.

Whilst none of that is mind blowing, its still an improvement, and as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been any "oh we'll give it one last year in 2011" talk, like there normally around this time of year. Maybe they had a good year in 2010?

Vadge, perhaps I'm just a nice, forgiving bloke? Nah...

The funny thing is, last year was the only year that Camelot made a profit in some ridiculous amount of time. The money is just going in a big saving pot, but for what, some say that housing estate (but the owners of the park wouldn't benefit saving their own money up to give to another company?). To be totally honest, what the park needs before anything else is done (as in adding new attractions) is for it to be painted, tarted up, new signage and a bit of TLC. It's not going to happen though. I think they're more then happy to just let nature take it's course and destroy the park whilst they get their money from unsuspecting victims that walk through their door..

No rumors of it's demise this year, though after going into administration early last year (and subsequently bought out) I thought it was pretty clear what Camelot's future is?

Well in case you missed it, they're (the owners) are essentially waiting on planning permission to be passed to turn the whole place into a multi-purpose area (residential, commercial, etc) and are simply running the park as an ongoing concern in the meantime.

Rumors were abound last year that this would probably take 3 - 5 years; so presumably so long as the park is vaguely profitable it'll be around for another few years yet, though I wouldn't expect any new rides (or at least not expensive rides anyway).

You should go anyway! Schwarzkopft's are hard to come by nowadays, especially in the UK, so surely its worth a trip just for Knightmare alone?

If you've not already been, it's the effort of going to ride Knightmare (and unless you're a credit whore, only for Knightmare). Knightmare is a bumpy ride though, which makes the re-ride potential somewhat less than it would otherwise be.

However at the prices they're charging on the gate? Rip off, pure and simple.

I really liked Knightmare. I think we were lucky to get such a fab schwarz when they're all dieing out.

I'd consider going back (the park is so crap that it's fun), but not at that price!
