I decided to post a new topic for this since Marcus, the kid & I continued on to a couple more parks after we bid Taylor goodbye. So just consider this a supplement to Taylor's report.
After our late snack at Waffle House following the Live we hit the road for Louisville & arrived at our hotel after 1am, so we didn't get a whole lot of sleep before it was time to hit the road again. A couple of hours later we rounded a corner to see this wonderful sight.
This is the place we want to be.
It's a little more crowded than I expected.
That's because the kids in Kentucky & Indiana get out of school for the summer earlier than they do back in NYC.
Year round Christmas tree.
This is Holiday World & it's in Santa Claus, Indiana, so what did you expect?
A kiddie Christmas Show for all the good boys & girls to see.
Does Kris Kringle drink lattes?
Maybe they could use a cup. Sitting out here all year long.
Into the Halloween section we go...
...with it's gorgeous Wellenflieger.
Our first coaster of the day!
Great signage.
Call me crazy, but I really like Legend. It's fast & furious & doesn't let up through the entire ride.
Crossing into the Fourth of July section gave me a first glimpse of Voyage.
Which along with Pilgrim's Plunge & a restaurant, make up the Thanksgiving section.
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this coaster. It's one tough motha', no doubt about it. It'll throw you around like a rag doll & make no apologies. Just when it gets good, it gets even better. I liked everything (other than the 2nd hill, which needs ejector or a steeper drop), but the bunny hop in the tunnel is orgasmic.
We were held up on the brake run for a few minutes on our re-ride & the ride manager came out & chatted it up with Marcus for a bit. All the staff were super friendly & I enjoyed how they take all you loose items & store them in lockers for you when you get on the coasters.
After a couple of rounds of rough sex we needed to take it easy for a while, so off to kiddieland we go.
Choo-choo!
It's Holidog!
Gimme 5!
Yay for my first real kiddie coaster of the trip!
Nice ass.
A kid's best friend indeed.
Weeeeeeeee.....
We're having some kind of fun now!
Next up was time for a little launch...
...and bouncy, bouncy.
Next to the shot tower was Teddy's Rough Riders.
Every ride at this park has unique themeing.
Well, almost every ride. At least the monster has a unique name.
Lewis & Clark...
...didn't drive automobiles.
We had to cut back through the Christmas section...
...and past another non-themed ride, Scarecrow Scrambler...
...to get to Raven.
Gotta love these empty queues.
Raven is a fun little coaster (I only say little because it's a bit on the short side) with some pops of air time & a nice bit that goes over the water. Not much else to say, I'm afraid.
With our coaster count complete it was time for more Voyage re-rides, so back across the park we go.
Better hurry because it's beginning to look like rain.
At least the queue is still empty. :--D
After our third ride on Voyage Marcus noticed that Pilgrim's Plunge was testing, so the kid & I headed off to the car to change into our swim gear while Taylor & Marcus went straight over to the water ride. We returned from the car to find a soaked pair of CFers waiting for us near the ride. I gave Marcus my camera & phone while the kid & I took the plunge.
After the soaking wet front row drop we searched for Taylor & Marcus, but couldn't find them (thus no more photos). It was raining by now & we headed for the car, where Aidan had left his phone. We called Marcus & agreed to meet them at the front gate, then hit the road to Beech Bend with high hopes that it wouldn't be raining when we got there.
