The Camelot Theme Park has recently confirmed that it is definitely planning to be open for business for the new 1010 season next spring.

This good news follows the fact that the attraction theme park has this summer garnished it best August numbers since 2005, with the amount of visitors jumping by 10%.

The sales and marketing manager for Camelot Theme Parks, Sandra Dempsey, said yesterday that many people will know that the theme park suffered from an uncertain beginning to the season this year plus the weather has not always been cooperating, but Camelot is truly delighted that the North West of the country has once again made the amusement park one of its most visited attractions.

Ms Dempsey added that the Camelot Theme Parks are extremely happy with early reports indicating visitor numbers for the season better than forecasted.

Camelot is scheduled to open its doors for the next season on April 2 2010, which is Good Friday.

^are they going back in time to 1010 :)

Its good news, will be able to go there next year and get on the coasters I have not been on.

I'm soooooooooooo glad it's opening next year! I wanted Dylan to go before it shut but never got the chance this season....

Lol they aren't concerned that numbers rose BECAUSE people thought it was closing and were getting one last trip in?!?

Ditto with MMF... Only he has been before, but was limited on to just two coasters I think. Late next year I think he'll be able to get Whirlwind as well as the Diesel Dragon.

Nah, they're Camelot and they don't worry about things that make sense :P

Glad Camelot is staying open. It needs to go back to how it was in the 90's, and it was pretty popular back then.

Invest maybe a tiny bit, heck even a shwarzkopf would do them justice again.

I think it's unlikely Camelot will see another ride. The plan seems to be to redevelop it into a 'multi purpose site' once the owners get the go ahead.

^Thats it, probably cash in for another season due to the surprise success of this season. Then wait until the economy picks back when the land prices may be worth more and then they can redevelop the site.

Numbers increased? When I went it was empty apart from an hour or two after dinner, then at three it emptied unbelievably quickly, as everyone must have realised they had been on everything and buggered off.

I only went because I thought I was getting one last trip, my last chance to visit the first park I ever visited and hadn't visited since I was about 2 at best.

Still, a British park is staying open, so it's good news, especialy as Knighmare still only has one foot in the grave. Hopefully someone like FL or BPB will pick it up before the other foot joins it.

Actually, space providing, BPB isn't a bad call for the eventual destiny of Knightmare. My gut feeling is that the owners may see the term 'Dual purpose' in much the way that the Metro-centre once saw Metroland, as an 'added attraction', and wouldn't be surprised to see a small shopping village become part of the site (not the LWV kind...), and keep a massively scaled back funpark with the name Camelot on site, with maybe a junior coaster, and a couple of average flats.

I am very pleased. Means I've got one hell of a drive at some point next year, but I was very disappointed at the thought of not going before it closed.

On multi-purpose usage, it seems to mean, no theme park at all, just shops and houses. It'll be a shame when it's gone, but I think it's inevitable. Such a shame. It was the first park I ever visited and I went many times when I was younger (until about 14). This year was my first trip back in 10 years, I enjoyed my day out; great nostalgia trip but a lot of things I remember had gone and if I'm honest there's not a lot there to attract a new audience and from some of the views of Camelot I've read on here, most people just see it as a dump.

Seriously, all congratulations must go to Camelot for this! I, and no doubt everyone else on here didn't hold much hope for them at the start of the year, so this is great news. Well done to them!

Congratulations for what though? They haven't actually done anything to increase the visitor numbers. They made it well known that the park was going to close at the end of the season, and people went to get a last visit in before that happened.

That's not going to work for a second year. It's good news for people, enthusiasts especially I suppose, who haven't been before, as it gives them an extra chance to visit. Nothing new will be added, however, and the extra visitors they "attracted" this year will have absolutely no reason to return. I'd bet that their visitor numbers next year will be the lowest they've seen for a long time, and that's saying something.

Time to switch off the life support machine.

Meh. The place is over-priced, and seriously lacking. I visited once last season, got all the re-rides I could ever want, and was easily done with the place by early afternoon. The only reason I went back this season is because CF were going. (In fact, that very nearly didn't happen, as I'd drunk too much the night before and felt pretty damn ill that morning).

Unless there are some serious additions to the place, I'll not be going back.

Sometimes, somebody comes along and says exactly what I wanted to say meaning I can't really add to the topic.

I visited the park last season to pay homage, as a theme park enthusiast, to a park in extremis.

I've never know anybody that has been to Camelot say that they must visit again soon, definitely within the next two years. Not many people, particularly on here, say they like the place.

I am glad it's going to see another year. I love independent parks, they've always struck a more pleasurable chord with me than the big chains.

There are people out there I'm sure who love Camelot, either sentimentally or for the attractions and I'm chuffed for those people.

However, to make me return, they'd have to get something that would not only make me go wow, but suck me off at the same time.

I've not ever been there but I've managed to persuade my dad to let me go next year cause I really wanna do Knightmare. :)
