It was announced to shareholders earlier this year that Dreamworld would be getting both a family ride and a thrill ride.
The family ride is sorted...A Disk'o' coaster called Shockwave, which opens in a couple of months.

But at a second construction site at the front of the park on the car park edge, some steel with Maurer Shone

And it looks suspiciously like the supports for a Skyloop.

Nice. I'm thinking about going to Aus next year and heading to Brisbane/Gold Coast first for a little bit. I need these coasters!

Re: Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamworld

nooooo not a skyloop!
why does dreamworld like roller coasters that have horrible capacity? i dont understand why they put something like this in when they have lots of space

Re: Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamworld

We have a name - Buzzsaw.

And it's gone vertical.

And for good measure, the completed Disko Coaster:

Part of me reckons they should have forgotten about the Disko coaster and put the money towards a more extensive layout for the Skyloop like the one at Parque de Attractiones, but I guess this is what we are winding up with.
The name of the attraction came out when someone mentioned from a teaser on an annual pass ad that it looked like it would be saw themed:

That prompted me to run a search here http://www.ipaustralia.gov.au/trademark ... ndex.shtml , found the name Buzzsaw registered by the company.
Someone else +1 confirmed when they searched on the CEOs linkedin page, found the relevant info and posted it
Not bad I guess, I'm looking forward to it. Driving past, you can tell its really going to look big on the skyline.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

It looks good, But i think they made the wrong choice of location there ?

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

Nah it's fine where it is...right out the front for strong visual impact, and it links in well with the goldrush area of the park.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

That was quick, but there isn't much to build I guess.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

Damn, not another carnival ride, Build a real coaster Dreamworld

Dreamworld celebrates its 30th birthday in 2011, and there has never been a better time to visit as Australia’s favourite theme park goes all out with a host of additions including a bone chilling new thrill ride, BuzzSaw.

The biggest year ever for the iconic entertainment destination, Dreamworld has added a new exotic animal exhibit, ‘The Lair’, a new adventure ride, ‘ShockWave’ and now a major thrill ride so extreme it will boost the park’s Big 6 Thrill Rides to the Big 7.

Opening in time for the September school holiday period, BuzzSaw is an Australian first and will be the ride to conquer for high-action adrenaline seekers.

Seated in an open carriage, riders will be held in by a single waist harness leaving the upper body fully exposed to the elements, and with little to cling onto. This white-knuckle ride starts with a suspenseful 46m vertical ascent that will have riders instantly wishing they were back on the ground.

At its peak, the rider’s centre of gravity is flipped and they are dangled upside-down 15 storeys in the air before the ride car free-falls through a 360 degree heart roll, and plummets down a final vertical drop at speeds of up to 105km/hour. BuzzSaw will be the highest inversion ride experience in the Southern Hemisphere.

Situated in the park’s Gold Rush precinct, the construction of the new ride has unearthed some unusual stories about the make-believe mining township, which has been part of Dreamworld since the mid 1980’s.

Unexplainable occurrences recounted by staff working in the area and historic research dating back to the late 1800’s have inspired the ride’s theme and will have guests wondering where fact ends and fiction begins.

With construction now well underway, BuzzSaw will be one of the first menacing thrill rides guests can spot as they arrive in the main car park adding to the already impressive landscape including the Tower of Terror II and The Giant Drop.

Dreamworld’s line-up of new rides and attractions in 2011 makes now the best time ever to visit our worlds of fun. Visit www.dreamworld.com.au to grab a $99.99 World Pass for unlimited entry until June, 2012.

Stay tuned for more details on this year’s biggest, fastest thrill ride, BuzzSaw.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

hm. i mean its like australian parks are impossible of putting in a roller coaster that lasts for a while. Seriously superman, tot 2, buzzsaw, these are all ultra short ride experiences and have pretty bad capacity.
i will roll over in my grave if any park in australia were to get a ride like nitro or expedition geforce.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

I still hold to my guns and think you're an idiot.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

Im still annoyed about this ride being so short, but I am visiting these theme parks in the low season, so it wont have long lines, and Ill be ok with that.
Still looks like a fun ride.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor

Love that you guys called in Dreamland rather than Dreamworld in the homepage news item *sniggers*

I suspect it's more for the parks 'coaster count' but anyway the ride does multiple revoloutions so the ride time would still be average.

Re: "Buzzsaw" - Maurer Sohne Coaster (SkyLoop?) for Dreamwor
