Battersea Power Station Coaster Proposal.

There's a nice article over at Gizmag about an architects proposal to install a coaster at the long derelict Battersea Power Station.
Will it ever happen? Almost certainly not, but its a nice read with some interesting concept art.

The viewing gallery lift hill is a really interesting idea.

The concept art is interesting if fantastical. There's tons more on the link above

I think the neatest part is that the concept art is showing people walking amidst the supports, almost like the coaster could be wooden. Beyond that it doesn't look like a feasible idea like you said.

Looks great but heard about a coaster/theme park there too many times now.

Hope it happens but yeah.

Wait, is it 1990 again?

This will happen the day pigs fly over it... Wait... ;)

I like the idea of Battersea being used as a Museum of Architecture but don't know what a roller coaster has to do with it! But, I suppose, seeing as this will never happen the architects may as well bung anything on there.

Well I suppose there did used to be the old Battersea Funfair with the Big Dipper coaster, practically next door to the station.

Won't happen, but nice proposals nevertheless.

It looks odd but as the article says, there's a company that are pretty much building houses inside it already.

What really took my interest is the fact that the company that made this design are clearly on something and I love them. Trampoline BRIDGE

Looks nice, but don't all artists impressions?

My colleague was at a meeting at Craven Cottage (Fulham's ground) today with other commercial teams from football clubs including Chelseas. Chelsea are quite clued up on it due to their previous plans ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... adium.html ) and their guy claims a Malaysian company have outbid everyone to transform it into.... apartments - woo?!

Why are you saying sorry? :p

Pretty much every single post in this thread including the original one said it won't happen.
In fact people.... there's no point any more in saying it won't happen we all know it.

However does anyone reckon that gallery lift hill Idea could be adapted elsewhere. It's not a bad idea to be honest. Maybe not quite as extensively covering the whole hill as the image at the top but combining a lift hill and observation deck might be a nice idea.
Or something similar on a rocket coaster top hat with observation deck at the top accessed by a lift.

I still don't understand why they can't just fix it up, and just make it into a huge gardens, stick two fingers up to the developers and let people enjoy the architecture.

I'll believe it when it happens, until then it's another grand plan from some meglomanic billionaire...

I imagine it is entirely done to increase firms portfolios. Yes it is unlikely to happen but an architecture firm with a good portfolio of ideas and innovation even ones that didn't make it will look more attractive to a customer than one who hasn't tendered for anything.

I agree it will never be built but worth seeing what it could look like after developement, It has a good layout with excellent headchoppers but not much "airtime" along the course, I would of made the track more twisty after the 2nd hill & use colour changing lights for evening / night rides. The design's makes good wallpaper for a Laptop / PC

If money was plenty I'll convert the powerstation into a huge covered / outdoor waterworld with loads of flumes from "Proslide", wave machine etc & the 4 towers are begging for different effects Quad "Intamin AG" drop rides.
