Any thoughts on Michael Fehnel as new Carowinds GM?

Apparently Bart Kinzel is out... he resigned or something to that tune, and now Dorney Park's Michael Fehnel is the new GM as the upcoming expansion project nears its grand announcement later this month.

So, is this good? Bad? Is there a back story? What are your thoughts?

Considering Bart Kinzel is Dick Kinzel's son, it makes him a member of the "old guard" at Cedar Fair. While this isn't a knock on his ability to be a park manager (the guy has been working in Cedar Fair since age 15, definitely following a similar career trajectory to his father of working from the bottom), I would suspect his resignation to be a result of the new administration under Matt Ouimet. Out with the old and in with the new - and Carowinds is about to receive a lot of new.

Kienzles resignation isn't a bad nor good thing, as he kept his respective parts of the Cedar Fair empire afloat. Carowinds is not a major park in the chain, and I am sure the next GM will do just fine.

Fun side fact: Each of Maverick's trains is named after Dick Kinzel's kids. Bart included (note the side panel of the zero car):

I did not notice the names on Maverick... thanks for that fun fact! As for me, I know that there seems to be a lot of debate about [Dick] Kinzel and his later years. I'm sure he did a lot of good as well as some questionable stuff. The same probably goes for Bart! Now, Fehnel is going to Carowinds, and I have a good feeling that they will do a lot to that park over the next decade, especially within the next 3 years. So, it could become the CP of the south. I'm also hopeful that they continue to improve KD, making each Cedar Fair park a coaster/theme/amusement park destination!
