So after about 3 years of only going to the pleasure beach once a year, a friend rings up who I met recently and asks me to come to Alton with him and 3 of his enthusiasts mates. (I used to go to park visits all the time, but I kind of lost touch). I decided I would go.
After a sleepless night i met my friend in Blackpool at 5:00AM, we had a brew and set off. Picked our third group member up at Stoke train station and had mcdonald's breakfast. finally got to Alton about 8:30AM. We walked past around 9 coaches, so it was obviously going to be a very busy day. One of my friends has a Merlin pass, so we got in on the £15 offer. (I paid £5 for fuel, so £20 for a day out I cant complain). The ticket Kiosks opened dead on 9.
As soon as we had the tickets to get in, all four of us made a mad dash for the Smiler. There were around 50 people in front of us. The sun was already blazing hot and the crowds gathered around us, the line behind us grew more lengthy buy the second. (So much the Que snaked back all the way to the Towers). We took our place put our bags on the floor and started our long wait for the thing to open. Finally after 2 and a half hours of that antagonizing music, oh god that music!!! (buy this time after watching dummies after dummies enjoy the ride, nearly half the people in front of us left the Que). We were let into that 10 minute walk of cattle Que lines. (I really like this Que line it's very clever). after waiting in the holding area for 5 minuets. We were let in the station on managed to get on the second train of the day.I was very nervous waiting and looking at the ride all that time, and dreading that vertical lift hill. buy the time we were up the first hill I was fine and really enjoyed the ride. (The Smiler is not what I expected). We got off the rise, collected our bags and walked out the exit. i turn behind be to glance at the coaster, and to my surprise. The train that got dispatched after ours was stuck on the vertical lift hill with only the front of the train at the hills peak. I managed to get a picture and will upload.
Buy now it was nearly 12 so we decided to walk over and have a blast at battle galleons. Got soaked and headed for the river rapids. Fast Que and always fun. we went on the mine train, had a blast on duel, then eat some lunch. Next up was one of my fav coasters Nemesis, that thing has never lost it's thunder we even managed front row. Love that coaster.
we took the sky ride back, and pretty much walked onto Hex. Also a fav of mine. Next up was 13. a very long Que, but that first drop packs a bunch, especially as I were at the very back.
we took the sky ride back to Nemesis area and went on Air (It was around 5 buy this point so we had to be fast). Managed ti get front row on air, then one last back seat ride on Nemesis.
All in all a very good day. I think we did well for the amount of people in the park, but I still prefer to go in October. I will defo be getting back into my theme parks after this visit, pleasure beach is next on the cards.
I will be going to alton again before the season ends!
