Adventureland in Des Moines, IA is getting a Mondial sky swing called Storm Chaser for 2014:

Not sure how tall it will be or exactly where they're putting it in the park. Seems likely it will be the same height as the Cedar Fair models. The name Storm Chaser suggests it won't be in the Old West section of the park, which is where most of the improvements and additions over the last couple decades have been focused.

No matter what, this is a HUGE addition for Adventureland. This has to be the biggest addition to the park in twenty years - maybe ever. I sincerely hope this marks the beginning of a more progressive, modern Adventureland. It's a lovely little park, but it's been stuck for a long time, and suffers from family vs. family and family vs. city politics from time to time.

At any rate, the park is right on the edge of the Des Moines metro, so the views of the city and the countryside are going to be unbelievable on summer evenings.

Yeah...... I saw this show up on Facebook last night. I wonder if the park is just getting a swing tower type ride and whoever runs their FB/media just pulled a random photo. I bet they end up with a smaller funtime or zamp model. I'd be truly shocked if they end up with the mondial.

I visited adventureland a few summed ago. Great little park, I've got a TR from it here - http://amusementparkstuff.blogspot.com/ ... nture.html

Apparently it's going to replace Silly Silo. That's a good place for it. Maybe a bit too close to Space Shot.

I think this is a great addition to the park and to the UK too. But I wonder, how many times it will shut because of the sea breeze and how windy it can get down there.

I'm guessing that will never happen because we're talking about Adventureland in Des Moines, Iowa. :)
(the nearest coast is 5 hours away in Chicago)

I'm sure it would be a great addition to a UK park and the UK it's self but this one is going to IWOA!

I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures! :--D
