Yesterday me and my family went to Mall of America. As a coaster enthusiast, I spent most of my time at Nick Universe. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but I'll still share them.
We started out by eating lunch at Johnny Rockets. I got the normal burger with chocolate shake. My burger fell apart in like 5 bites. after lunch, we looked at the Lego Store under the food court. Then we headed to the park.
We got wristbands.
I started with the park's(and my first) Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, Spongebob Rock Bottom Plunge. I found it quite fun. The drop gave some air, and was pretty intense. Bit short, and a tad rough, but fun nonetheless.
7.5/10
I then wandered around, and decided to ride Shell Shock. It is a very interesting concept, and think more parks should install these.
After Shell Shock, I went on Pepsi Orange Streak, which just might have the longest trains out of any coaster. Look at that! The picture can't even capture the entire train!
It was a very long, scenic ride. It's cool how it interacts with so many rides. Perfect ride for starters. I think it has quite a tall height requirement though.
6/10
dat face tho.
Fairly Odd Coaster was next.
I did ride Pandemonium at SFSTl, but that was like 2 months ago. Still a good ride. All the sudden drops provide not air, but doesn't push you into your seat. Somewhere in between.
6.5/10
Wish it was Traffic Jam(long story. ;-) ). I didn't ride it though.
Went on Spongebob 2 more times. Still fun.
I wanted to do the ropes/zip line, but the line was like an hour. No thank you! I did the slide instead. It was pretty bumpy, but still fun.
You do get a good view from the top though.
After the slide, I met up with the family, played one of those throw a ping pong ball into a bowl floating in water games. Surprise! Nobody won. My brother tried the basketball game nextdoor, and won a ball:
Yum, cheap plastic.
After that, we went on Log Chute.
I like this Log Flume, as you get minimally wet. It has quite a bit of theming, but no real story, eh animatronics, but two drops, and is just an overall fun ride.
6.5/10
Then I went on the Intamin "Shuttle", Avatar Airbender. Very fun. I got lucky and was on a very spiny ride. . Overall, it was pretty fun, got very high very quickly(no, I don't mean drugs nor alcohol. *rolls eyes*), and was pretty fun.
7/10
I didn't take anymore pictures, but I then went on Brain Surge(amazing ride), Spongebob, Ghost Blasters with all the cheesy pop outs and effects, and ended off with Log Chute. And as always, night rides are always better.
Overall, the park was pretty nice. It had a pretty good lineup, very good selection of flats, and had a wide variety of kid rides. The main problem is the operations and staff. TPR said the operations were 3/5. That was a reason I chose CF instead. The operations were horrible for all the flats. If the dispatch takes 3 times longer than the ride time, something is wrong. A lot of flats like Brain Surge and Shell Shock took a long time to dispatch. And a lot of rides had only 1 person, and some people didn't even check the restraints! I still had fun nonetheless.
My ride count:
Spongebob Rock Bottom Plunge: x5
Anchor Drop slide: x5
Log Chute: x2 plus bought the On Ride Picture(won't show though)
Fairly Odd Coaster: x1
Avatar Airbender: x1
Shell Shock: x1
Brain Surge: x1
Ghost Blasters: x1
Pepsi Orange Streak: x1
After the park, I bought dinner at Panda Express, got a souvenir, and went to my hotel(Double Tree), and slept the night. I am currently 30 miles north of the town of Wisconsin Dells, and will probably have lunch there. It just started raining, and am bored out of my mind.
Bye!
