This is one of those debates where both sides are right. Parks aren’t charities, true, and you can’t make people like what they don’t like. There’s no point in a thrillseeker going to a park without thrill rides.
And yet I still think the campaign has value, for three reasons:
Firstly, a...
I'll say Paultons, just because you can have so many rides. You could probably have 100 if you want. They have so many more rides than they seem to need, which is the complete opposite of the corporate parks.
Yeah, I think you're right, actually. Cobra is such a small ride, it's more likely that a flume is going under it than a coaster. We'll see though... I guess all will be revealed next month.
It could still be a theme park yet, though. Let's be honest, the only important thing is Megafobia. I'm not being pedantic, but I probably wouldn't classify it as an "asset" at the moment, as it's not easy to sell or move (let's hope they agree!) It'd definitely be a failure if the Welsh...
This is a little bit late, but Dreamland, Margate is getting a log flume for 2025. Apparently it's the one that closed in 2016. I can't actually find a record for that one, though... I know they had a Reverchon flume that closed in 2003, but I'm not sure who made the more recent one.
Could the footers under Cobra be for a single rail coaster? I've not seen one in real life, so am not sure how big they are. If the ride going there is a coaster, it would make sense that it'd be something quite snaking and agile.
Lots of twists and turns, probably some floaty moments, if not outright airtime... Something like this would be an excellent replacement for Cannonball Express. Not literally on the same spot, but it looks like it'd occupy exactly the same thrill level, but also be an upgrade.
Re: Great Yarmouth - I can't help but think amusement parks should get more help, especially the seaside parks. They really make the places worth going to. Seems crazy to me that the big wooden coasters at places like Southend and Felixstowe were just allowed to be torn down. Anyway, I look...
It might be the steepness as well. The Big One is 30-degrees, whereas Hyperia is apparently 47-. Makes a big difference even when you're just sitting in the trains, and would probably be quite a lot more difficult to climb on foot.
Good TR and reviews, Robster. I should definitely get back to this park myself, as there's quite a few rides I haven't been on now. With the two new areas, I think they're getting back on track.
Part 1 - A Floral Failure
I said in the Clacton Blues thread that, in 2021, the Essex resort was briefly home to two large ferris wheels. It has always puzzled me as to where exactly the Pavilion wheel went… I believe it made its way to Felixstowe, and so I endeavoured to find out for sure...
Good choice. They might even have been beaten to it by Thorpe if they hadn't got it. Not that we can't have two.
After Cyclonator, I can't even imagine how colossal the swings will be on this.
It doesn't appeal to me, but it's really just Oz, isn't it? Put like that, I can see why people would want to visit the locations such as the Emerald City etc. I'm sure I remember a Flying Monkey ride being a sort of in-joke in the coaster world, but I can't remember the precise details...
Seems like a good use for their last bit of land. I didn't realise until recently, though, that the Paultons estate used to be massive - 3,000 acres! The "Manor of Ower" - it must have been most of the land between Ower and Furzley.
I still have a feeling in my bones it'll be a GCI with an inversion. Especially now we're seeing the one at Isla Magica (as @Bowser says), which is 100% Titan Track. Not sure whether that'd count as the "rival" coaster (because it doesn't have an inversion), but GCI are offering so many small...
Yep, I think you've hit the nail on the head there. It all goes back to that old chestnut - "Does Merlin have a monopoly?" Near enough, I'd say - it did, anyway...
Anyway, I'm all for this scheme. I'd even go further and say we should embrace all that our regions offer, because it was better...
Do you not think it's strange, though, that we suddenly have to build so many housing estates? Our birth rate is low, so the increase must be coming from immigration. It seems to many that we're making the country overdeveloped when we don't need to, ie. we're making the crisis! Just seems a...
