Thanks for sharing my photo. Broke my heart seeing this. The lift was pulled over with everything in-situ, all of the signs etc. Even the heras fencing they'd put on the lift to stop urbex people climbing it - was left on there to be destroyed.
The park seems to be managed and operated by...
It's insane the amount that has been removed. Makes me think it is more likely to be some different layout, maybe with a swing launch as people have discussed.
Dont see why else they'd remove so much of the layout otherwise.
To be fair I think Flamingo Land stopped putting a ton of effort in quite some time ago. I'd say in the late 90's the two parks were basically in the same position. After Flamingo Land got Velocity and Kumali in, Lightwater stopped really being much competition.
Lightwater kept throwing up...
seems silly to me, to have such an iconic ride taken down, is this just in preparation for the site as a whole to be put up for sale maybe?
once it's gone, it's gone forever and a piece of unique Yorkshire history is removed. Obviously they'll never be able to build something of that scale again.
Sometimes. Things like the Haunted House stuff though, I feel like it has a lot of potential to be something amazing and approaching Disney level theming. The guns and targets would massively take away from that.
The generator was what made me think. It was a huge generator, the size of a shipping container (like the original one was)
But I personally have zero hope that anything will happen with it, maybe they tried getting it back up and running and then realised it was too much work and gave up...
One of the Ultimates trains has been pulled out of the station and is sat on the track spur.
A rented generator is sat next to the old location of the original generator.
Not sure how long it's been like this.
Ah you saw that too. I saw that immediately and was shocked that they'd allow this to open like this. Could easily rip your hand/arm off on that.
Also in the queue the fire alarm wiring is looped and not finished. There should be a button to set the alarm here but its just a loop of wire...
Oh wow that's yet another interesting addition to the story of this ride. I cant say I have any hope of them getting a second train - Especially when they removed and stripped Kumalis second train ages ago. Kumali used to be a proper queue shifter on the few times I saw it running both trains...
All of the coasters track, except the lift hills and station, has no foundations. Its just steel track bolted to sleepers sat on the ground.
You need actual foundations to RMC a ride
Sadly I think its gonna sit there rusting. The track is all seemingly in good condition, there isnt really much...
I can tell you with certainty that the ride path is actually clear for the most part. Some tall grass poking through the rails at one point but otherwise the track is seemingly being kept clear.
Clearly hasn't run in 2 years though I can say that.
