By modern Intamins, do you mean something like Kondaa? I think the most modern Intamin mega I’ve ridden is Millennium Force (Skyrush has a totally different train, ditto for Maverick), so I cannot compare to Kondaa or even some of the more modern launched Intamins like Taron or Pantheon.
One of the aspects of B&M trains that I like (and suspect I am not alone) is how open they are. Intamin and RMC have stronger air, but there is something about how open and roomy the B&M trains are that enhances their airtime compared to the tight cars on Intamin and RMC coasters. That my feet...
Pure hangtime isn't airtime to me, but riding the Great Adventure Joker gave me a new perspective about inverted airtime. If all you're doing is hanging upside down, such as if you do half of a barrel roll and then just hang against the harness, that's not air. But if you do that half barrel...
I could buy Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia as better than any country outside of the entire US, so I don't buy the argument the we win because of the size advantage.
After us, I see Germany as second-best, with China making a run at taking the silver from the Germans.
I think there's a solid chance this ends up like Fury, where's it far from near consensus that it's #1, but plenty of people think so.
There's also no doubt in my mind that Cedar Fair told Schilke to design the best in the world. They've made this request twice before (Maggie, MF) and were...
I watched the animated Lightning Rod POV, but I haven't seen the real footage, and I haven't even watched the animations for Steel Vengeance or Twisted Timbers, and I don't really want to know how they go.
I sure do hope that it has the out-of-control pace that other RMCs have, and I think it will. Something to keep in mind about the wider curvatures and banking transitions is that this is going to be going through them faster than any other RMC. With the height that we expect from this, the top...
Kennywood's Thunderbolt has two nice drops into the ravine. Jack Rabbit across the park has a couple of drops before the lift, too, but Thunderbolt wins this for me.
I think I've got to agree with this. Think about how awesome your top 10 coasters are. Now you've ridden something even more awesome. As great as I thought Fury was, I hope the next coaster I ride tops it.
The one except might be the Steel Phantom (not Revenge), but it being my top coaster has...
Ejector air won't be sustained for as long as floater air. Curvature has to be tighter, resulting in shorter track with higher speed (all else equal, which it isn't but is a decent approximation).
Wikipedia says it's Wild Thing at Valleyfair.

I don't believe this. I think it probably is Shambhala. Morgan didn't have that same parabolic shape as B&M that maximizes zero-G time.
Tons of good photos, and from angles from which I've not seen the construction site. Thank you.
Do you mean like the "stall" on Wicked Cyclone? I thought that was a fun element.
I can't believe some of what I'm reading. The US Eastern Time Zone has most of the world's best coasters.
If someone has the opinion that Helix or Taron is the best coaster, that's fine. Both look like fun. But it's not an opinion that most of the most highly regarded coasters are in the US...
Intimidator 232
B&M Hypers are pretty good rides, but this one just didn't have enough speed over those hills to give proper airtime, and it generally felt sluggish. I could see and hear it being trimmed as I walked into the park, too. It was depressing.
There has been a lot of talk about how great Kings Island's Beast is at night. Ditto for the Voyage, Boulder Dash, Mystic Timbers, The Raven, and other terrain coasters.
These tend to be wooden coasters, and I'm having trouble coming up with any steel coasters I've ridden that provide the kind...
