I went today. Had hoped it would be a little less busy as it was a Friday but no such luck. The three mazes were good but I don’t think £10 each (£27 if you do all 3) really represents good value for money. What is also supremely irritating is that, if you buy all three as a package, you have to...
I love ghost trains, even the crappy seaside/funfair ones still have entertainment value.
Is there still one on one of the piers in Blackpool? Can't remember whether it was Central or South. It was pretty terrible - looked very similar to the Knutsford one posted on the previous page. The...
I have to say it's my favourite bobsled coaster of the three I've ridden by quite some margin (the other two being Blackpool's Avalanche and Europa's Schweizer Bobbahn). I would be very sad to see it go.
Slightly off topic but I noticed the absence of the swinging axes just before the drop in the dark on Saw when I was there. That effect hasn't been permanently retired, has it? Perhaps it was just temporarily out of action. I hope so, because I like it. Also the blades at the bottom of the main...
There was a guy holding a zombie on a leash that looked like it was trying to escape. The guy then said he was going to give us 5 seconds to escape before he unleashed the zombie and then started counting. Whether he ever did or not I don't know, but it worked as the whole group legged it to the...
I went here on Friday (had the day off work) and had a good time, despite the crowds, which at least weren't as bad as last time I went to Thorpe Park (during Fright Nights 2012), when we waited something like three hours for one maze (Experiment 10 I believe) and didn't bother with any of the...
One of the staff members confirmed to me when I was there last month that it would be re-opening. Not sure how reliable that is but it re-assured me all the same.
I went to Tripsdrill in the Autumn as well, lovely place. I love the fact that the theme of the park is basically Swabia and wine production. It was a good few years ago now; they had Mammut but not the launched one. It wasn't even announced at that point I don't think. It was so quiet when we...
Oh no, I hope not! I had heard rumours that it might be up for removal in the near future, but not quite as soon as that. It would be a shame to see it go - hopefully if they do have plans for it it's to reinvigorate it rather than to remove it.
Space Center was the first dark coaster I rode when I was about 11 and I loved it! I remember being disappointed when I went on it as TONH for the first time, wondering where all the theming and effects had gone; it was as if Merlin had done it: "remove all the theming and market it as a new...
Out of interest, what time do they close the queues to attractions approx at fright nights? We joined the queue for The Swarm at about 7ish, paranoid that if we waited any later they'd shut it to make sure it wasn't running much after 9.
Ah you were there tonight as well!! Damn, would have been cool to catch up had I known!
The Swarm was saying 75 mins when we joined the queue at about 7ish, but it ended up taking around 2 hours.
Have just come back from Fright Nights and it was incredibly busy. We had to queue for a whole two-and-a-half hours for Experiment 10, and then headed straight to The Swarm and queued over 2 hours for that, so that by the time we came off The Swarm all the rides had shut. Even the fastpass queue...
Out of all the parks I've been to it's probably a tie between Efteling and Europa Park.
That Leofoo Village does look very nice. I'm actually flying to Taipei tomorrow, but no theme park trips on the cards unfortunately :-( However, those photos of Happy Valley Beijing are stunning - I'm going...
Hmm, it may well be more than this, and I'm only focussing on coasters, but off the top of my head:
2002: Colossus (Thorpe Park)
[2002: Air (Alton Towers)]*
2003: Nemesis Inferno (Thorpe Park)
2004: Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios Florida)
2004: Cheetah Chase (Busch Gardens Tampa)...
No love for Hair Raiser? I guess it only opened late last year and is quite out of the way for most people on this foum.
I've only been on three - Kraken, Scream and Hair Raiser. I can't really choose between them, though, simply because the amount of time that lapsed between me riding each one...
Space Mountain at HK Disney - the effects and on-board sound track lift what would otherwise probably be a rather average coaster (if it were outdoors, sans theming) into an astonishingly good ride. We need more dark coasters in the UK!!
Rode this today. Great family ride, loved it. Impressive throughput as well; despite the park being incredibly busy we never had to wait more than about 20 minutes.
Such a shame that the surprise is not kept hidden; you can see it as you enter the Grizzly Gulch area.
I've been to EP many a time but have never had cause to use their lockers. I'm going back next Friday (unexpected visit) but I'm going straight from the airport to meet a friend there, so basically what I want to know is are there decent-sized lockers there? I need to be able to leave my hand...
