Its pretty safe to say the main tower structure will remain as the cost to remove or as some silly people seem to think, increase will be huge. We are most likely looking at a overhaul of the launch system be that, LSM or multi pass swing launch but the main structure will almost certainly be...
So in theory this has closed today. It’s a little odd that there has been no official communication around this from what I’ve seen?
No post from Alton hyping up the chance to get your last rides in or at least giving the GP the heads up Duel will be closed.
The level of investment recently from Merlin across the majority of their portfolio is really exciting! We will basically know the investment plans for the next 3-5 years for Alton by the end of this year!
Ideally they need at least 3 new supporting rides one in Forbidden Valley to go alongside Sub Terra (If it does turn out to open) One in X-Sector and one in the Dark Forest. That would just cover the lost of old rides rather than be an addition to the line up. They have space for 2 in X-Sector...
I really hope Merlin invest in flats across the park along with the work on Duel, Sub Terra, getting Hex sorted along with the Nemesis retrack prior to any SW9. Realistically with all of that in mind I can't see a major coaster investment before 2025 if the Nemesis retrack opens in 2024.
I am a huge scaremaze fan and have been going to Alton as part of my halloween trips since FOTS and Boiler Room by the hotels, the fact they are still dragging these mazes out and charging £32 for them screams budget cuts for the other investments!
I can see them opening until early into the season next year, use it as a means to boost visitors before the events kick in. It shouldnt take a whole full year to retrack surely?
Im really glad to see that they are starting to look at the aging rides with this and Nemesis getting done.
The timing of this closure should give them 6 months to carry out the work for next season. Just PLEASE dont use the VR from Galactica
With the rumored return of Sub Terror and hopefully...
A twitter account has posted an aerial show showing work has started on what looks to be a construction access road.

Saw is staying for a very long time even if they lose the IP. No one rides it because its based of a film with outside of spin offs had a Saw branded film released 12 years ago. Most of Thorpes main demographic would have been between 4 and 10 years old in 2010.
