Re: Dollywood 2016 || Teaser
Yeah I definitely appreciate the park will go with what's best in terms of cost and maintenance, but I'm not suggesting this would be hydraulic. S&S's pneumatic launches are a whole different argument: unlike Intamin's hydraulics they're still being built and they...
Re: Dollywood 2016 || Teaser
The idea of a magnetic launch doesn't excite or make sense to me. The fastest one out there since Superman/Tower of Terror is iSpeed at 74.6 mph, and the numbers we've heard thrown around for this are bigger than that. Also none of the magnetic launches I've done...
Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Project 2017
I think a Premier Sky Rocket 2 would be logical and sensible. I know capacity is an issue, but I've always felt a large shuttle coaster a la Mr Freeze would work well: they can fit it to wind all over the park, cram in a couple of inversions, then send...
Completely agree. I love coasters, but that doesn't mean I have to love all coasters. It's just not particularly fun going on tiny crap rides. I can completely understand the "collecting" aspect of cred whoring, but it's not for me. Plus I do a lot of international parks as day trips so there...
1. El Toro - Rolling Thunder hill
2. Goliath (Walibi) - Bunny hop finale
3. Skyrush - Any hill
4. Tonerre de Zeus - First drop
5. El Toro - Opening three hills
6. Fahrenheit - Surprise middle-of-layout hill
7. Phantom's Revenge - Finale
8. Goliath (Walibi) - First hill
9. Megafobia - On ride...
Just conjecture of course (and maybe it's already been mentioned), but could the reason for shutting Spinball, Dragon's Fury and Rattlesnake be because those rides 'bump' cars? That is, they effectively crash all the time? So they're just trying to eliminate this with new operating procedures to...
Anybody have any idea what the 'longest multi-launch coaster in the world' claim could mean? That board says 'in its way of construction', could this mean longest by Intamin? Surely there's no way this will be longer that California Screaming? Technically those are LIMs, so perhaps it's the...
This looks fantastic, it's almost like it disengages from the lift hill 10 feet or so before the back reaches the top. One question: is ALL the grey support structure new? Or is it just the old wood, painted? If that's all new, this is virtually a completely different coaster to the original...
Phoenix at Knoebels: The only real airtime coasters I'd done before this were Balder and Goliath at Walibi, and since I loved them both I was fully expecting Phoenix to go to my Number 1 spot based on what I'd heard. I did really enjoy it, but I didn't find any of the airtime particularly...
Re: Tomahawk at PortAventura gets new trains
No haha! Obviously not since a) it's getting new trains b) it's really small c) it'd probably cost more than just building new track. Just that there's such a huge amount of track in there, that if RMC were to convert the 6000 ft of Stampida we'd...
Re: Tomahawk at PortAventura gets new trains
Next Saturday as in the 21st or the 28th? Either way, this has got me excited. I used to love Stampida but it really weighs down an otherwise phenomenal ride line-up these days. With Tomahawk and both Stampida tracks, there's almost 8000 ft of...
Haha fair enough :lol: never a good idea to be optimistic with Murray. Very disappointing though; the first two sets were incredible aside from a very sloppy first set tie break. I didn't watch after that but it sounds as though Murray just melted away. Very promising for him though, I think.
I agree with Smithy; I think Murray's got it. I haven't got to watch much of the tournament because of a pain-in-the-ass lecture schedule, but from what I've seen he's been tactically brilliant. I find the Murray vs. Djokovic matches quite dull in general, because they have similar games and...
Re: £150 Million on the lottery, would you invest in themepa
I'd definitely try to start my own park. "Ooh it's too risky!" So what? What's the worst that can happen? You go back to square one. (Ok, yes, you could accumulate masses of debt). Obviously I know nothing about business, but with a...
Re: Paultons To Build Custom Vekoma Boomerang
I'm so impressed. I haven't made the trip to Paulton's yet, and even though these obviously aren't the most thrilling rides they've definitely got my money. It so refreshing to see a UK park make forward-thinking decisions that benefit both the...
I haven't done it myself, but the disappearing monkey in DisneySea's Tower of Terror preshow always impresses me on the POVs. It's such a minor thing in the context of the ridiculous ride, but it's just a perfect moment of Disney magic.
I've never thanked an op for a ride itself, but I'll always say thank you when they check my harness, open the exit gate at the end etc. That's just common courtesy though, really
As everyone is saying, virtually every ride is better at night, but I noticed a particularly transcendence on SkyRush: the whole park takes on a real Roller Coaster Tycoon feel at night with the lights, jam packed rides and huge crowds. The airtime combined with the night-time exhilaration is...
