Hopefully it’ll be a basic, worthwhile record, such as tallest, fastest, longest etc IN THE WORLD... and not something lame like “the longest red coaster above water in this county”
There’s room for both in my world, but steel will always have the advantage for doing stuff that wood struggles to do. That’s why the Navy don’t make battleships from wood anymore.
Most of my top coasters are steel. If I had to choose, I’d go steel...but I’d be having a secret affair with wood.
*gasp* How simple yet so stunning! I always like the eye lights in Swarm, it’s made the ride feel alive at night...but this is a step above. Love it more than I thought I ever would.
It’s been like this every school holiday since Peppa opened. The problem is the right turn into the park grounds as you pointed out. Keep the alternative route quiet though...it’s what us locals use!
The covid secure barriers are dreadful. Never felt so claustrophobic but I guess it’s to stop...
Amazing topic. 99% (random stat) of parks exist to make money. Without that, or deep pocket funding, they'll go bust. By that reckoning alone, they are capitalist.
To be specific, I reckon parks use a particular brand of capitalism; Keynesian. Keynes was a British economist who promoted a plan...
Blackpool. There I’ve said it.
Alton’s coasters are better. Most of them are my favourite examples and I could ride them all day, every day without getting bored. The park is also much better looking than Blackpool and is one of the best theme park destinations I’ve ever been to.
But Blackpool...
“Reliable” is how I’d describe ACE. From the few members I’ve met, including those in the upper echelons of the organisation, I’ve found them pleasant and nice. I think they’re geared towards the more mature enthusiast...that means attitude and settled lives, nothing to do with age...so I’m sure...
Let’s face it. London catchment, first public opening day, new or rusty ride ops operating a new ride, indoor attractions closed due to Covid, cold/snow affecting operations...very possible of a 3 hour queue at one point. No ride is worth 3 hours stood on your feet or sat on your bag in a queue...
I did see about three empty trains doing the rounds throughout the day, with occasional inconsistent dispatch. Aside from first thing, the queue was never longer than 15 mins.
One of the bounce towers was down for an hour or so. But the other one was virtually walk on.
I observed one reset on...
It’s unlikely the park will go any more extreme than Cyclonator. They know they’ve got to cater for a wide family age range, but the focus remains on the 5-12 year olds. Anybody more extreme is way off the mark.
The queues today were strange. There was a stampede for the new area, in particular...
I’m knackered. If you want some photos, head over to CF's Facebook and Twitter, but I'll post some more on the home page this coming week.
The area is great. Full of nice details and touches, such as humourous themeing, boxed in coaster supports, beer bottle trees, sound and visual effects...
Proper exited about tomorrow. As much as I’m looking forward to seeing Tornado Springs, what I’m most looking forward to is getting “coaster legs” again. That wonderfully wobbly feeling after a short few months of not-riding is something I love...and after no coasters or thrill rides for 18...
Get your point, but just think how special those rides you mentioned will be when do you eventually get to ride them. A crappy Pinfari is going to be a cheap thrill for me next week, but when I do get my now lockdown-toned arse to Florida, Velociraptor will block my socks off more than I ever...
