You're right that there are considerations for going up that high, but this seems like a pretty easy problem for smart engineers to solve. If someone went to B&M with the crazy idea (which I admit it is) of dropping $60 million on a ride like what I have in mind, they would make it work. There...
I've heard this mentioned a bunch. What is it?
Is this just an air hill that's banked heavy at the top?
It's a cool turnaround, but I think that it would be out of place.
On the way out, I have about three seconds of more than -1Gs. There might not be enough speed to do that on the way...
I've heard a lot of "Shut up about them, already!"
I've gotten them on some good ones, though. My mom's last coaster ride before she decided that she was done was El Toro in the very back at night. My dad has been there a few times and refused to go on it, but I got him on Nitro. Both refuse...
I am designing a coaster in NoLimits 2 and would like your help. It's a 400ft terarcoaster (or whatever category it should be...I say teracoaster because a terabyte comes after a gigabyte and stratacoaster seems like a word for the TTD style rather than just a height) with the B&M track style...
Two coasters come to mind as being game changers. Matterhorn is one, because it introduced steel track. Magnum is the other. I can't call it innovative from a layout standpoint. Out-and-back coasters existed well before 1989. Yes, it bigger, but I'd have a hard time considering something...
I disagree. In some regards, it would make it better.
You like Skyrush, so I'll assume that you like sustained ejector air. To get the necessary curvature on Earth, you have to bend however much get get to -2Gs for -1G of ejector sensation (-1Gs of force gives 0G sensation). The track will...
Cool question, especially now that we could build a water slide on Mars. :)
There would be differences, but they wouldn't be as much as you might initially think. The B&M airtime hill would still be parabolic. The directrix and/or focus would be different, but it would still be parabolic...
Re: What's next for RMC? New Concept Coaster (page 4)
It sounds crazy enough that I wanted some kind of evidence rather than a rumor about something that sounds cool. You must admit that, "Hey, folks, we have to modify the ride because it goes so fast that it's melting the trains," sounds a...
Re: What's next for RMC? New Concept Coaster (page 4)
I've always thought that the modifications had to do with the 270 after the first drop. This is the first evidence that I've seen about wheel damage, which is what I wanted.
But I could see KD saying that it was to keep the turn from...
How would it attach to the car, though? I'm really interested in this, because I think that a better harness on SkyRush might be able to keep it from throwing me side to side as violently as it did (which was enough that I had to hold on to hold my position, and I wanted my hands up). Do you...
Re: What's next for RMC? New Concept Coaster (page 4)
I'm seeing a lot of people on sites like this mentioning it, but it still seems like something KD released to sound awesome.
"Don't tell them that the turn is too intense! Tell that that we have to reprofile it to keep the wheels from...
I was at Cedar Point on a nasty day. There were enough breaks that I got on rides, though. I went back to my hotel room three times, thinking that I'd call it a day. I ended up going back and getting on GateKeeper in the back far left, only to hear them announce, "The ride is now closed," as...
Re: What's next for RMC? New Concept Coaster (page 4)
Is it anything but a rumor that its wheels melted until the turn got widened? I have a bit of a hard time buying that. It makes more sense to me that the turn was changed because it was decided that 6 Gs was too high.
