This is where Skyrush lost its top spot for me. After the first drop and next two hills, it was at the top of my list. It was definitely trying to chuck me out of the car, but unlike El Toro, the other Intamin I've ridden that has a bunch of sustained ejector, the combination of floorless...
Firehawk was fun enough that I rode Superman the next time I was at Great Adventure. I had been on it before, and I didn't like it and skipped it whenever I went back. After Firehawk, I decided to give it another shot, and I didn't like it, so I guess my point is that Firehawk is good enough...
Potato Patch Fries!!!!!
Put cheese on them.
I've not had a lot of good park food, though desserts are usually good. Part of it is that if it's just one day where I've been walking around in 100 degrees, I can get something decadent.
It's a shame that most of the food isn't very good. I...
One of the "polls" threads, the one about the best coaster at Great Adventure, got me to explain how Diamondback became my favorite coaster, and it got me wondering how others got their favorite coaster to be their favorite.
For me, I hit Kings Island at the end of a multi-park trip. I got...
You're referring to the hop over Rolling Thunder when you say the strongest airtime moment, right?
As far as the sustained ejector on the two hills before the turnaround, does T Express compare favorably? That's what impressed me the most about El Toro, how long it felt like it was trying to...
I really like Nitro. Toro beats it. The first drop is crazy steep. I've been on two coasters that pitch beyond vertical, and neither felt as steep as El Toro. The next two hills give big ejector air, and then the hop over Rolling Thunder is sudden and really makes me think that I'm going to...
I'd put Disney and Universal at an equal level to Platinum, but it's not quite the same.
My favorite park is listed as Cedar Point, and I don't expect to cause any controversy by calling it a top-tier park. Their world-class coasters are MF, Magnum, Maverick, Dragster, GateKeeper, Raptor...
I think there has to be yet another category beyond large using DelPiero's reasoning, which I generally like. Consider Dorney Park. They have multiple B&Ms and a very long hyper. It's owned by Cedar Fair. I can't, however, put it in the same category as Great Adventure and Hershey, each of...
I think you have to hit it at a slow speed to keep from pulling dangerous negative forces. If you approach it fast, then you have to have wider radii, so each drop is longer and you can't fit in all four.
Only the top of the third drop is in view, and it seems to be going pretty good by the...
Here's an idea. Don't make up the whole world. Use the headset to add to what is normally seen. You could have aliens flying around you while seeing your friends and the track and natural scenery.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!
He's definitely a weirdo and would make an awesome set for a ride, and I would want that ride to be themed to Beetlejuice!
I don't see a big roller coaster working for this, but maybe a smaller ride like a log flume could work. In fact, a river is quite...
Yes, I mean the track like New Texas Giant or the upcoming Joker ride (which looks awesome with the different colors for each track).
I don't get that feeling at all. Most of the existing RMCs are IH. What elements do you see the wood ones (even the upcoming ones) doing that the IH track...
Why aren't there any original RMC hybrids? They're all based on existing wood coasters: Texas Giant, Rattler, Cyclone, etc. I have a few thoughts. Maybe others have additional or confirmed ideas.
1. MONEY!!!!! Hybrids might be more expensive.
2. Lightning Rod will be the world's fastest...
Re: Rank the regions in the US for best amusement/theme park
Wouldn't SFNE and thus Bizarro fall in that region?
For doing this, I think you have to consider how spread out the parks are. SFNE, SFGA, and Hershey are not that spread out. That's an easy road trip. It's harder to hit Kings...
Re: Rank the regions in the US for best amusement/theme park
Great Adventure has the world's tallest coaster, and it was the fastest through most of 2010. El Toro is routinely ranked as the best wood coaster in the world. Nitro also gets ranked high, and it's one of five B&Ms at the park...
http://ekusa.com/product-category/outdo ... retainers/
I've used EK straps for a long time and never come close to having a problem on a coaster if I cinch it tight. Kingda Ka kind of displaced them a bit, but not even close to blowing off, and the other rides there didn't move them one bit...
