I disagree. Amusement parks have such a rigid model for how they should look; no one deviates from the norm, and considering they need to appeal to the young so that they in turn pester their parents to take them, it makes sense to try to reflect a younger outlook.
Why not try something...
To be honest, yes, I could believe it. Blackpool really aren't the most subtle when it comes to their aesthetic. On the other hand, no one wants a classy version of Blackpool pleasure beach. It's loud, it's brash, it doesn't try to pretend that it's home to a secretive, anti-technology cult that...
I mean...it's freezing cold, and there's snowfall, so I can't imagine that those are particularly favourable conditions to carry out construction work in.
To me, Drayton Manor has always been more of a family park; I used to go there as a kid, and for the longest time, Python was the only coaster that was in any way thrilling (and that was a Pinfari piece of ****). I always thought the addition of Shockwave was a weird one because they just...
In my mind it goes something like this:
1. Replace over 50% of the track, change or add elements - new cred (any of the RMC conversions)
2. Replace under 50% of the track, change or add elements - cred plus - somewhere between a new cred, and a revision (e.g. The Big One's first drop, Mighty...
I can't believe no-ones mentioned that absolute classic of modern cinema, Beverley Hills Cop 3, which was set in the fictional Wonder World (aka California's Great Adventure).
Better than Citizen Kane m8...
Inside Alton Towers could have been so much better if they'd just devoted a bit more time to the park developments over time. It's a park with such a rich history that i would have loved it to be a celebration of why it's been such an important part of the UK theme park industry.
Also, I was...
I've had limited experiences with them (Rita and Colossus) but in both cases they weren't good compared to other manufacturers. The ones on Rita are odd in that the over the shoulder portion doesn't seem padded enough to protect you from jolts, and the lap portion just smushes your thighs and...
This is just my opinion, but it's a nice way of giving riders a repeat of the tension of the first drop. If a dive machine is all about the drop and the preceding anticipation, having another little sharp drop in there just before the end is a way to break up the experience.
It doesn't matter...
Tower of Terror at Camelot.
My friend refused to believe she wouldn't fall out on the loop because it only had a lap bar so I had to ride alone. Her loss... it was ace.
To be fair to the guy, if he knows anything solid he probably can't talk about it without risking a hard slap on the wrist from Canada's Wonderland. Having said that, he's doing himself no favours with (possibly) the most sensationalist reporting I've ever seen regarding a new coaaster, and...
It's disappointingly short, although it does look quite fun. Hopefully it's going to be enough to convince other smaller and/or cash-light parks to start snapping these up the way that others have been doing with Gerstlauer Eurofighters because I'd love to eventually see one of these pop up in...
I'm guessing most of those kids at school probably wouldn't choose a site like TripAdvisor to leave feedback online. There's something about the chance to give detailed, histronic write-ups of your leisure-time experiences that appeals to the parasitic curmudgeon that starts to grow inside you...
I've been curious for so long about how they got two trains to synchronise their movements on the track, and now I see it's just one long, incredibly noisy train it just looks so....janky.
Fantasy Island is a bit of a weird one; I remember the previous owner making all sorts of wild proclamations about what they were going to build, but ultimately those fever dreams never came to fruition because reality...or something. Back in the early noughties it seemed like there was some...
But they're like cute little wings for added airtime...
Seriously though, the weight restriction on this is fairly limiting so it seems odd to add to the weight of the trains with the side flaps. I get the need to keep guests safe, but it seems like that previously one of the potential risks...
La Ronde. I heard it was a total turd and that the crowds were awful, but honestly, with the exception of the ride ops on Le Monstre (and the subsequent bruising from it) it wasn't really that bad. Sure, their coaster line up isn't the best, but there's something nice about the idea of a theme...
You're not the only one. That's not to say that the Swarm is bad in any way; it's fun, but I found after the first ride, it was just a nice, gentle floaty trip around the set remnants of Lost.
First post ever, so here goes...
The Ultimate is bad, it's always been a cheap shot at a world record, and aside from the out of control run through the forest, it squanders most of it's momentum not really doing much. I rode it as a kid in the opening season when (I swear) it had OTSRs and it...
