Am I the only one who finds that Swarm isn't forceful? I've had several rides and I was never blown away. It's smooth, but in a way I feel smoothness detracts from the ride if it's over-smooth.
To be fair, they said a lot of the “fire” was special effects, so that could affect the price. Obviously it’s not 10 million pounds big, but it might be a bit. Also what about that preshow we were hearing about? Maybe that’s a pretty extravagant preshow?
Hope not. That sounds dreadful imo. Pandering to the GP all the way. "First wooden 4D coaster" where there's a tiny burst of water to your face would make the ride experience worse.
I reckon it'll be a WF to do with the fire special effects. All this marketing is literally just about fire. World's First roller coaster to subject its passengers to more than 100°c.
My Mother's horror stories of watching it as a child have put me off a bit ;), but no, I wouldn't be adverse to watching it, especially if this turns out to have a Wickerman theme! Does look very interesting.
To be completely honest with you, I have no idea. Maybe they just wanted something to go with the cheapest IP they could get. I mean, what child these days has watched "The Wickerman"? Maybe they thought that since Thirteen was a relatively family coaster with a horror theme yet had moderate...
I guess Alton want a good return on any roller coaster they spend a lot on, be it because the ride is actually good or because it's ok themed / highly marketed. They know if they use "SW" they'll pique the interest of the enthusiasts, whether it's a good ride or a bad ride. Many will still go...
