B&M's thrill rides are more expensive than other manufacturers' but parks still buy them. I can think of three reasons why:
- Reliability and uptime
- Smoothness and resistance to aging
- New innovations e.g. dive, invert
I'm not sure these translate over to the family market so well...
Might be the stupidest question on earth, but if the spike were to be 500 feet, surely it would be too fast going over the 420ft top hat? Especially considering the swing launch would speed it up after the drop? Obviously the train won't be 500 feet in the air but considering how slow the train...
I suppose the fact that these are all chain parks might mean that they're not incredibly low - Merlin and SeaWorld have long worked with B&M, and they may just favour their reliability and overall GP-pleasing experience. I agree though that B&M are likely offering something different (which...
I imagine the "emotional damage" was a nicer way of saying "physical damage" given Togo's reputation ;) Glad to hear that this one's running well though.
Great report! How was travelling to Italy and back in a day (with a pitstop for creds)? I've always preferred planning a sole park day to...
Starting to wonder whether some parks will see the cost of new trains as too much leading to some of them closing...? Not sure the distribution of Schwarzkopfs with older trains but may smaller parks think it's too expensive for older attractions?
Possible major changes for a coaster 5 years old is worrying. Anything to do with stresses on the track due to the speed it takes elements at (not an engineer)? Or maybe to update it to the new shaping seen on stunt pilot?
Absolutely tragic. I agree @Sandman that this will surely mean many parks with Schwarzkopfs will reassess their rides, particularly due to the nature of these incidents - something that apparently can't be anticipated and checked. Surely this also throws a spanner into the works regarding the...
Given that everyone else has had a go, I suppose I should try to estimate how many times I've been inverted. Given the countless times I've been on Speed at Oakwood as a teen, the number won't be exact though. My estimate came at 266, quite embarrassing compared to others on this thread. It...
In fairness, I wasn't expecting anyone to calculate the exact number when I made that thread, least of all the "olds" ;). It's been a while since I've been on this forum and I forgot how nerdy we all are.
Similarly to @HeartlineCoaster, my 12th cred was Nemesis Inferno when I was 11 at Thorpe...
Over the years, how many times do you think you've been inverted on a coaster (including re-rides)? Seems like a pretty obvious topic so apologies if it's been done before.
For myself, I'd tentatively guess mid-hundreds. I've no doubt many of you will be in the multiple thousands.
Bonus...
