"SAW - The Ride" - Eurofighter for Thorpe Park

I noticed Joey mentioned the rotating thing earlier too. It will rotate. I'd bet any money on it. You're right, they'll be a motor in that housing. I wouldn't bet on it spinning wildly though. Every time a shaft turns the direction of load is effectively changing too, so it will fatigue very...

"Mumbo Jumbo" - S&S El Loco for Flamingo Land

Fair enough, but (assuming the photo has not been distorted) I'd say it's pretty accurate. Try it for yourself. There is a BIG difference between 111 degrees and 120. I'm not saying you could distinguish between the 111 and the 112 on the two coasters.. that probably would be too close to call...

"Mumbo Jumbo" - S&S El Loco for Flamingo Land

Just incase anyone was in any doubt about the integrity of our friends at Flamingoland, see below. I, for one, would never suspect a theme park of lying to gain a commercial advantage... even when I was holding a protractor to my screen. ; )

"Mumbo Jumbo" - S&S El Loco for Flamingo Land

As people have said earlier. Look up Steel Hawg - this ride will be a near-clone. About the restraints, you might complain about them (I didn't have a problem personally, but then I've only rode Slammer once) but they are easy to sell. From a safety point of view they must be one of the most...

    "Terminator" Woodie for SFMM

We all realise this name change is to coincide with the forthcoming movie, right? So it is no longer a rustic old style woodie named after a metallic, futuristic, washed up film franchise but rather a woodie named after a metallic, futuristic, soon-to-be-current film franchise. Slightly more...

    Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

Personally I can't fault anything Gazza is saying. Even if it accelerated to, say, 72kph in 1 second that's only 20m/s (since there are 3600 secs in an hour, work it out) i.e. 2 x 10m/s per second, or in other words, 2 g ! So, you can see that launch accelerations are nothing compared to what...

    Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

Yeah, sorry Mark if I came across dismissive, you were just presenting the facts the same way I am. I'm not sure I buy the argument that they were just selling the simulator at the Euro show. In fact the whole thing seems a bit weird. To get exclusivity they would have to cover the Kuka's...

    Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

Yes, in fact you don't need to speculate on this as AT have already done it in the past. With Air they were simply calling it a "world first" when clearly the Vekoma flyers had been around for a year or two (and there was even a flyer in Granada Studios here before that). About this though...

    "Terminator" Woodie for SFMM

Actually, to focus on the ride for a bit and not the name - it does look to have some nice moments. I could swear they are trying to get some airtime into a big positive g turn there, seriously, about 46 secs into that video - respect for that. In fact, GCI seem to be doing for wooden coaster...

"Mumbo Jumbo" - S&S El Loco for Flamingo Land

I guess it's possible, but not really flamingoland's style to be honest. And you would expect some ground work at least, even if the design/layout was brand new and they just finished it. Also there is the whole name thing... you don't plan a ride for months and then release it with no name...

    "Terminator" Woodie for SFMM

I know it's been said, but it's such a surreal decision that I have to chip in... Terminator, the wooden ride?! Presumably they are paying somebody to artistically direct the park right? There are some decisions which cost money and for that reason you might make compromises. But naming a...

"Mumbo Jumbo" - S&S El Loco for Flamingo Land

In an attempt to bring the topic back to the El Loco... I read people earlier saying they think this will be a custom layout but I would like to point out the timeframe they are working on here. I think with about 5 months until opening and no ground broken yet, we are highly likely to see a...

    Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

Well, here are all the hybrid structures.. It's probably gonna be one of these that you are both thinking of. I'll leave it for you to browse! http://www.rcdb.com/ir.htm?category=218

Battlestar Galactica - Duelling Coaster for Singapore

Yeah, it's this Hulk ride rumour that we should be looking at more closely. I don't know where that came from. I really don't see that happenning. I would be willing to bet my house on it. Is that the confirmation you were looking for?

Battlestar Galactica - Duelling Coaster for Singapore

Ah yes, there were twin-style duelers long before CP6's creation. I do recall one such ride in a quite, ahem, exquisitely themed Lord of the Rings park I once did come across.. If it is indeed Vekoma that does this in Singapore, it could be there big shot at a truly good-looking ride...

Battlestar Galactica - Duelling Coaster for Singapore

Bad news for you then.. Vekoma's homepage claims they are building "a signature attraction" in Southeast Asia for 2010. http://www.vekoma.com/ Unless anyone has got any other ideas what this might be.. I think we may be looking at a Vekoma Dueling Dragons. Time will tell.

    Alton Towers Latest Rumours/confirmations

It is worth pointing out though that Wardley really wants to see a wooden coaster built there. If I haven't heard him say it, I've definitely read it several times. And the bosses at Alton will try to pursue what he wants, without a doubt, they have little ride knowledge themselves and treat his...

    Milestones in Your Counts

How bizarre. When you said "Ghost Bomber" I thought that was weird because I have no recollection of that ride and I was there..! Then I checked my coaster count on my profile and there it was.. Ghost Bomber, which wouldn't be that strange if it wasn't for the final twist... the ride is actually...

Rhein Airtime (Germany Live) Trip reports!

Just done a bit of a catch-up read and I noticed a few mentions of Oktoberfest. Well, I've just got back from there and I can definitely recommend it, although maybe not purely for rides. The fair was, of course, awesome, but not much larger than Dusseldorf it has to be said. It is basically the...

    Milestones in Your Counts

I think I may have made 100 now, and I think it was Olympia Looping (no fixed location - if that counts) but I'm trying to get 20 posts so that CF will let me edit my banner below... pesky glitch in the system.
