Has anybody seen a recreation of The Ultimate at Lightwater Valley anywhere..? It doesn't have to be very good, I need to modify it anyway for some work that I'm doing.
Please post a link or PM me for my email address!
Designers do use No Limits. John Wardley knows Ole Lange (the No Limits creator) well and they are in communication over the sequel (NL2). But this is largely for conceptual design/ideas etc. Ride manufacturers will also need their own software, structural analysis software, finite element...
Wow, such strong feeling against this market research... I'm pretty sure it's true. In fact I think I've seen it somewhere. It has quotes from people in the research saying things like "it looks like it's made of matchsticks" etc. Pierre and bob_3_ are spot on. These are marketing experts. Yes...
For me, it's sometimes not the forces on a ride that makes it intense. Sometimes a ride just has a really gnarly appearance that makes you reach for a spare pair of underwear:
Look at all that rusty metal (just theming, of course)..
And how about this for a tasty drop:
Wow, I've seen a few theme park building sites before but never quite that bad, just a few days before opening...! I'd love to hear reports of how it scrubbed up for the big day?
You've gotta love the Italian optimism. There's another Italian coaster going up in Scotland at the moment and...
Glad to hear the throughput is decent. I know Intamin had some problems with meeting the throughout requirements for Rita so great if Th13teen can eat the queues. At least the queues are moving (unlike Saw's opening..).
Hate to stir.. but Extremis is not pulled down. A hook releases the...
Yeah, sorry, that wasn't meant to sound like a reaction. Was just being blunt.
I was more thinking of the wider enthusiast community - I can imagine there will be critisism of the trims but basically, they're permanent magnets (first and second drops) so we'll just have to live with it!
Yep, it's just freefall. They're even calling it that aren't they, in their official press stuff?
Also, yes, it's trimmed. Get over it.
There is something in the queue, particularly just before you descend the stairs into the station. Has this not been mentioned elsewhere on the internet...
Just spotted a couple of things to clear up..
Yes, they wouldn't have bothered with closing the door over the track if they weren't gonna make the room dark. It will be dark.
Also, about the trims.. there are a few visible but they (hopefully!) won't feel that strong since they are...
I'd hate to see everyone so disappointed.. so i'm telling you now, it doesn't do what that video does. That mechanism has no lateral stability, there is no visible way the track is aligned, it's just all wrong.
Don't hype the building too much, just go and enjoy the show.
Are you referring to the sentosathemepark.blogspot.com video? As I said earlier, the duelling is pretty good. They do cross at every opportunity (that video is just showing the wrong bits of track).
It's not perfect but it's not bad either.
Well, you've outskilled me because you're right.. it was between €12m and €13m. I was being a plank.
So actually I take it all back. It isn't that good of a deal at all and it isn't like getting a bargain on a great sportsman in their twilight. Unless we are talking about Man United buying...
Whirldwind, Knightmare and Dragon Flyer at Camelot.
Not exciting.
Then Enchanted Airways and Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Singapore.
Unopened theme parks.. Much more exciting!
My French is a bit shakey but I did pick up "between 2 and 3 million Euros". They also seemed to say there will be 3 months of construction/testing after the foundations are in. I definitely also heard.. "ouverture" & "printemps" which means it's opening in spring. So they look to be targetting...
I've seen the duelling a few times now and it's actually far superior to Duelling Dragons in my opinion. There are probably 5 or 6 times when you will be aware of the other train (I won't call them 'near misses'). In fact the Human train actually 'chases' the Cylon train for alot of the ride, so...
Huh? I wasn't aware that structural height had anything to do with corrosion. Do tell...
Unless you are refering to the marginally stronger winds? Without wishing to be petty, I imagine the effect of natural sand scour that Blackpool suffers would be less up there so it would probably...
As rollermonkey pointed out, they have seriously considered a ride going out over the prom, up over the beach and back. They have even had design work done. At 97 years old, I would have thought you might remember that recent history. You can protect anything from corrosion if you're willing to...
X - SFMM
It's the only one i can really think of with a story big enough to be called "coaster of the decade".
A bit like Maradona and Muhamed Ali, it's gone through some rough patches but you can not deny its greatness. As well as the unique spinning seats, which designers are still...
Andrus, you have asked a multi million dollar question (Singapore dollars at least!). I've heard that the park is pushing for some kind of opening in the next few months. Sorry that sounds incredibly vague but, chances are, not even the bosses know for sure. As with all parks of this nature they...
