Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
^I like the restraints. I find them ok, but not comfy. I think the only thing that makes them so bad is how sharp the transitions are on some of Gerstlauer's coasters. Such a example is of Saws final turn right before the last brake run...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
A picture from yesterday. It appears that holes are being dug for footers near the top of the hole in the station area. You can see it on the left of the photo.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I guess you could say that some form of vertical construction has begun.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
That building is the substation.
EDIT: A picture from today of the site (17/09/12). It appears foundations may begin soon, since the rebar has been moved towards the station area, and made into rectangular forms.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
Yes, some trees will have to be cut down to make way for the station. And the maintenance area will require some cutting down of trees as well.
Here is one of many pictures taken today of the site. It appears some foundation work has...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
From my opinion that hole is mainly for the station and partly for the bottom of the cobra roll. From these edited things I created, one can see the hole is more towards the station. And yes to anybody who may be responding to this post...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
A big photo update of the site so far. Please note the photos were not taken by me. Original owner is credited at the bottom of this post.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
The big posters around the park advertise it alot to the public. But I do agree that actors should be used to help promote it more. Though that will most likely happen on scarefest. Also, towersstreet have posted on their facebook page...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I can see that the wrong type of liftsystemen is being thought of. When I searched up Liftsystemen, some pictures came up of some type of scissor lift things(with a few of jet engine pictures as well). Some for cars and other uses...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
Something I found on coastersandmore.de on SW7. I'm not sure if it may be true, but it is interesting. Well the Liftsystemen part.
Translated through bing translate. Taken from the Gerstlauer section...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I am unbelievably bored. And if anybody wants to see the part where the wind blows some of the plans, it is at 1:09 in the video.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
It may not be anything interesting to picture skimmers but I thought I would post this picture of something I saw in a video. From what I see, I see a part of the station building. But I can't see much other than that. The left side is...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
True. Unfortunately I don't know what type of concrete they use. But say if the weather is decent and they use it for the station area which will be a considerable amount of concrete. I was wondering since rebar is on site and if they...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
^Nope. But Uncle arly reminded me that it was bank holiday weekend. So that takes back my comment on me being concerned about it.
Anyway, news has appeared that rebar has appeared on site so things should start kicking off soon.
