Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st
Sorry to ask, but is this confirmed? Because if it is, my goodness that is the most desperate thing I've ever heard just to see how a coaster is going so far. Why don't they just go to the road near X-Sector, since it will be winter and...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st
That 'fake' support is the way Gerstlauer place their supports in the ground. Instead of using screws like manufacturers such as Intamin or B&M, Gerstlauer pour concrete in the hole while the grey part is in it. Like Maurer Sohne do with...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st
It was based on a person on towerstimes saying that they knew what the world's first was. So they told towerstimes and towerstimes posted it on there news page, which was very silly of them to do so if it is true.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
For some reason I feel this spinning track will be more than a giant washing machine. With the space of the underground section, the spinning section could slide across or even lower itself down with some special effects going on around...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
^Health and safety would be going after you. Also if it rains, the public would complain as to how there shoes are dirty and other stuff like that.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I feel the spider is meant to be some kind of security system. I think the story will be that some people have escaped from the building. And the spider is meant to retrieve them. Should be interesting to see it all come together.
Also...
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
Me either. I don't think track would be placed on site at this time and the state it is at now.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
4 by 4? Interesting. But I hope it doesn't look like 2 eurofighter cars stuck together. That would look very strange.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
A crane has appeared on-site this morning, to help place the rebar cubes along the hole. And a concrete pumper is also on site, as can be seen in the right of the 2nd picture.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
^From what I understand, yes it will do that. But at the same time it will be lowered down to the underground level, if it has to go under the shop floor. I think there is more to this than what it sounds like.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I find it silly they posted that. They are just going to get people in trouble because of it, if it is true. And it spoils the point of the marketing. But anyway, I'll just wait until the ride opens and see it for myself.
Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
Giant bin bags have been placed on the floor!

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
I think the theme music will just be something like The Swarm and saw. Just some moments of some kind of fuzzing as if from electrics and also some people talking while things are being displayed on the spider's TV screen.
As you wish...

A image of the site today. Rebar has been placed for the station walls, and for the foundations for the possible world's first portion.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
A picture from today of the site. Most of the girders have now been placed at the bottom of the site. Also more materials have arrived, such as concrete slabs.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st
On a recent video of the SW7 site, this thing has appeared. Also, more girders have been placed in the ground. Unfortunately not much footage of the station area.
