The entire of Ferrariland is the ultimate in 'designed by committee' exercise.
We need a central rollercoaster! What about THE TALLEST AND FASTEST IN EUROPE. (No, why not a Mack or Intamin multilaunch coaster which mimics driving/racing?)
We need a kids area. What about A BUNCH OF RANDOM...
I really don't understand the whole 'Mako has no airtime'. I damn near got ripped out of my seat on the first big camelback! Maybe they changed the wheels or something after opening? All the reports seem to stem from when it first opened.
I would say:
1. Mako
2. Shambhala
3. Silverstar
4...
Awesome pictures! I assume it's just the track left to go now? The station and queue line looks finished but I haven't seen any close-up pictures of them recently. What's the average test length for a B&M nowadays?
It has to be Europa Park. Such a beautiful place with amazing rides, great food, parades and shows. I'm happy to just walk around, soaking in the atmosphere and surroundings.
With some TLC and a big new ride I think Thorpe Park could be somewhere great too. Praying for that rumoured B&M Hyper...
I haven't ridden Icon yet (missed the opening by ~14 hours due to a planning screw up) but it sounds like Taron in the need for it to warm up. On my last trip to Phantasialand I was on maybe the 4th or 5th train of the day for Taron. To say it was slow was an understatement, Raik was more...
As echoed by many people here, it's mostly down to competition (or the lack of it).
In Sweden you have Gröna Lund and Liseberg. In Germany you have Europa Park, Phantasialand, Hansa Park and Heide Park. In Italy you have Gardaland, Rainbow Magicland and Mirabilandia . In Spain you have...
Apart from the colour scheme (green track: good, orange supports: oh god why) I actually quite like the look of this coaster. Seems very snappy, fun, forceful and decently long. Let's hope it's smooth eh?
It may be listed but it also has to be safe to operate, if that thing doesn't have structural issues I'd be amazed. The thing winded me when I last rode it a few weeks ago.
I would say that the Thorpe twitter feed is the best of the UK Merlin parks, they've helped me a few times when I've had queries and they seem to know their target audience. The others are, how should I say, 'less than good' and about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Here's a small list of rides which I don't think will be around in 5 years. They may get redeveloped or, most likely, replaced with a couple of HB Leisure units.
Flying Fish at Thorpe Park
Tomb Blaster at Chessington
Grand National at BPB (I'm amazed that thing is still standing/signed off it's...
Anyone who has ridden Taron will know that the POV makes it look like a boring, slow, family launch coaster. It's actually one of the most intense and thrilling coasters in the world. I'm sure ICON will be the same (I've yet to ride it, will be a few weeks before I'm back in Blackpool!)
She hadn't ridden it as of this past weekend (despite Staff Previews on Thursday night). I'm sure she will sooner or later, I'm sure I'll hear the swearing from down here in London!
The design is the same but they allow Mako to sit at the highest 'click' for it to be secured. The others require the clamshell to come down lower. I know Shambhala really suffered early on and even after modifications, the number of people getting rejected is still pretty high. Guessing it's to...
The Mako ones are pretty good to be fair. On the other B&M hyper coasters I've ridden (Shambhala, Silverstar, and Hollywood Dream) I've had to be stapled in for it to lock, killing a lot of the airtime and causing pain in my legs. I'm big but not massive (6 foot 4, around 38inch waist but big...
