I really don't get the appeal of wooden rollercoasters. I've been on the Blackpool set (minus the mouse, RIP), Woden and Stampida thus far.
I find SLCs quite fun and enjoyable.

I would recommend a Mack Mega Coaster personally, especially Blue Fire. Not too forceful, comfy lapbars and silky smooth. The heartline roll might be too much for some though.
Thirteen (or Darkmare at Cinecitta world) is a good bridge between Mine Trains and something more extreme.

You could have said the same about The Incredible Hulk at Universal, how they could have 'improved' it (LSM launch, different style trains etc) but then it wouldn't have been The Incredible Hulk. Think of it a refresh rather than a replacement.

I just found it a bit odd that as soon as testing had started they started being super secretive about things, hence why the trains might be non-standard.
Thinking about the 'worlds first' and the secretive nature of the testing I'm thinking along the lines of something special with the trains. As far as I know (feel free to correct me) we haven't see anything of the trains, not even a render.

Another vote for Thorpe Park. It's my local park and has some of my favorite rides but I'm never ever going again during the summer or Half Term. Full of loud, obnoxious people and the queue jumping is terrible. Nope, nope and indeed nope.
In regards to Thorpe Park it sounds like they are seeking out something different for their next big ride, something that will 'sell itself'. In my eyes that's a big (not necessarily tall though) fairly conventional rollercoaster. Something like a B&M Hyper, Mack/Intamin Mega, Vekoma Multi...
