If the initial statement made by BPB felt like it had some thought put into it and perhaps encouraged people to share their memories of the ride (rather than the "it's progress, deal with it" attitude), they probably wouldn't be recieving as many emails!
I don't think anyone can say for definite whether BPB were planning to release a statement, but I would speculate that they may have been holding off so as to not impact on advance wristband or season pass sales. The way the statement was rushed out on Saturday doesn't exactly suggest that one...
My post you have quoted above addresses the quality of the statement released by the park, not when it was released, therefore I don't understand how the staff being on their Christmas holiday is relevant?
In response to your comments regarding when it was released, the higher-ups within BPB...
It's a lie though, even when announcing it they didn't have the guts to be honest.
They could have avoided it by saying something along the lines of "We are extremely sad to have to announce that the Wild Mouse will no longer form part of the ride lineup here at Blackpool Pleasure Beach."
Wild Mouse is a huge loss to the industry, and I'm absolutely gutted to see it go. Whilst new developments are great, Wild Mouse was truly a one of a kind ride, that can never be recreated in the future. Pleasure Beach have lost a huge part of what made the park so special, and no modern ride...
I don't see any issue with the station, it's nothing special by any stretch but fits into the surroundings well and doesn't look 'cheap'.
I do wish they'd stop adding that green mould effect to everything though.
Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Project 2018
In my opinion, something similar to the style of Helix would be perfect for this new coaster. Given the interaction with other areas of the park, a heavy theme wouldn't really fit in - if it's presented well, with a modern style and a decent...
Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Project 2018
Big Dipper's past its prime? You must have been riding a different Big Dipper to me, as the one at BPB has been running fantastically this year, and it's still one of the more popular rides at the park gaining long queues despite running two trains...
Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Project 2018
I would hope for three trains given that most Mack launch coasters seem to run three or more, and with two launches that should be possible.
It baffles me how that makes the news, anyone who knows anything about theme parks would know that stoppages happen on rides all around the world on a daily basis. The number of inaccuracies in the original article was laughable.
As for an evacuation from the MCBR, I'm jealous!
