My lists still aren't great but will be vastly improved by the end of the summer after travelling to Norway and Sweden as well as a couple other new US parks.
Steel-
1) Maverick
2) Skyrush
3) Superman The Ride
4) Wicked Cyclone
5) Time Traveler
6) Storm Runner
7) Powder Keg
8) Nitro

I wouldn't really consider those to be top notch. Sure, they're very good rides, but neither are rides that make France a bucket list destination for coasters.
A Blitz coaster (if it does turn out to be Intamin) would really put Parc Asterix and France on the map. To be totally honest, France really lacks a true top notch coaster, but this could definitely put it on my list. It will also give huge justification for getting out to the smaller parks...
Judging by the height of the lift hill, the twist and dive will be INTENSE! The opening sequence of the drop, airtime hill, twist and dive, and then low-to-the-ground Stengel dive looks like a stellar start to the ride.
Based on the two month time frame of testing it is on track to open in early August, but I would imagine they'll speed up the testing phase due to the past delays. I'll be there in the beginning-middle of August so hopefully it's open by late July and the hype will have died down a bit when I go.
A couple of mine-
Boulder Dash is my number one. There are plenty of others that love BDash as well, but so many people underrate it I feel. Such a fun ride with amazing laterals, airtime, and terrain interaction. It's phenomenal during the day, but at night (especially in the fall) it just...
Great topic! The most cost effective have got to be GG and Vekoma at the moment. Vekoma have shown a ton of promise, making a true world class steel coaster for 10 million USD. GG have some fantastic products like Voyage and Boardwalk Bullet, but also some cheap wooden coasters in Roar-o-saurus...
Gotta go with Helix for the sheer variety of elements. It basically has anything that you could possibly want on a coaster in terms of layout... a few great airtime hills, some twists, a multitude of different inversions, launches, and terrain use throughout it all.
I rode 19 times in the day when I visited Hershey in 2017. The restraints really aren't bad at all. They hurt a bit on the brake run but throughout the ride it's more discomfort than anything, and the insanity of that airtime is so much more than worth it. The first drop at night <3
Yeah, no it's not the greatest layout of all time. But to make such harsh judgements of the pacing and shaping of the elements seems a bit extreme when we don't what they will be like.
Huh? I have been on it a TON in the past 2 years and it has been amazing. The rides I got last October were my best ever and pushed it over Maverick into my number one spot. It's relatively smooth everywhere but the turn after the first drop, and the airtime and laterals are so good.
^this. All of my top 8 coasters are the ones that I just hit the brakes feeling a "wow" sensation and feeling like the ride was complete with nothing left missing. Sometimes the sensation is different, Skyrush it was the shock as to the insane intensity, Time Traveler it was just the all around...
Why are people already judging this thing so much? We have no clue how it will be paced or the shaping of a lot of elements.
The layout looks pretty good with some unique elements, although I wish there was a bit more of a focus on airtime. This will definitely make Finland a destination for...
Good topic!
Most important for me is definitely the quality (and quantity) or airtime. I tend to prefer when a coaster has varying types of airtime (such as on Boulder Dash, STR, Boardwalk Bullet, etc)
Atmosphere is probably next important to me. I consider atmosphere to be a combination of the...
Yeah, Icon will have a whole lot more than 2 moments and 0.7 seconds lol. As with other Macks, I think Icon will have more airtime than people are expecting. I see the top hat having some good sustained airtime, the dive into the s turn will have airtime for sure, and then the two consecutive...
Interesting top 25. I was wondering if you could clarify DC Rivals being so low as I have heard nothing but amazing things about it.
And also Vampire at La Ronde, has never looked like a top 5 coaster to me.
Boulder Dash - There's really not much that I'd change. There's roughness, but it's not too rough and doesn't really affect the ride. I actually like the roughness in most areas because it makes it more intense. The base of the drop could use some retracking though. If anything I would want a...
