Swarming Up For The Season | Trip Reports

Thanks to Serena for organising a great day and everyone for being so awesome and welcoming to all the new people like myself. Who knew Thorpe could be so much fun!

    CF Lives 2019 Ideas Topic

I ventured over here after seeing the poll on Facebook to see what the discussion was and put Walibi Holland in for consideration, so I’d be totally up for that! Walibi Holland & Bobbejannland (or Toverland) is a good combo for a weekend trip without needing to use up valuable holiday days...

How Much do you Research a Park Before a First Visit?

In order: Creds How to get there (bonus points of accessible by public transport) Opening times Nearby parks/creds Price/offers I'll take a look at the map but not usually study it in detail When I only visited one or 2 parks a year I used to plan in minute detail and know everything about it...

    Whats your favorite Merlin Park?

I voted for Heide as its got a good selection of quality rides and is quite a nice park. I think Legoland is by far the best at achieving its aims, but I'm not a 10 year old kid so they're not my personal favourite.

    Nemesis vs. Nemesis Inferno

Is this really a question? Nemmy is fantastic, Inferno is ok but nothing special.

    Actor or Ride Designer

I don't think you realise how hard it is to be a successful actor. The 0.5% most successful actors make a lot of money for sure, but many struggle to survive day to day while trying to get their big break. Similarly maybe 0.5% of engineers design rides, but the rest of those who dreamed of...

Is There Really a GP Divide?

The GP are people just like us, they experience the exact same sensations. The GP can often enjoy a coaster even more than enthusiasts precisely because they have less knowledge. Ignorance is bliss and so the GP can get excited and enjoy an average coaster because it's good relative to their...

Favourite major coaster at Thorpe Park?

Stealth's constant rate of acceleration makes it smoother and just better than Ka, though still not as good as TTD. I'd say Inferno is my favourite Thorpe ride, even though it's pretty weak for a B&M invert. It's still a reasonable layout, and has more re-rideability than the other coasters at...

The Wonderful World of Intamin (Poll added)

4 of my top 5 are Intamin megas, so they win my vote. The OTSR ruin some otherwise excellent intamins.

    Closed season blues

Florida's perfect for the offseason, or just dream of it being "the" season again.

    Your 2011

I had a pretty good 2011 - Started in March with my first trip to Alton for in couple of years, then Port Aventura in June, finally got to Chessie in August (along with Thorpe) and then CW every weekend in Sept and October, last time I went was in Paramount days, and I liked it much more now.

Rides You Just Don't Even Think About Bothering With

Rude. Raptor is awesome! I wouldn't mind waiting a while for it, and it's worth waiting 45 mind for. ( and did we ever go to buffalo wild wings?) I'm not a huge fan of water rides, but log flumes particularly disinterest me.

    Do you mind line cutters?

Line cutters really piss me off, and I let them know about it. Even know almost all parks threaten to kick out line cutters it's really difficult to do in practice since people usually only complain about it when they get to the platform, by which time the line cutters have already ridden and...

    Saw or Stealth?

The front row on Stealth is pretty awesome, and it's my favourite ride at Thorpe ( though that doesn't say much :p) I like how well Saw is themed, but the actual ride isn't all that great.

    First coaster of the year

Saw was my first, and after waiting over 3 hours didn't leave much time for other rides.

    Milestones in Your Counts

My 100th was Gemini at Cedar Point. I was trying to make Top Thrill Dragster my 100th, but it was down and didn't want to risk missing credits forthe sake of a memorable 100th.

    Most Disappointing Ride

Silver Star was a big dissapointment for me. The first drop was decent, but it was really dull after that. I expected much more from b&m. Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka were also major disappointments. I had really high expectations of Dragster but thought it was ok, but just not worth the...

    Last 5 Coasters?

The last park I went to was Thorpe, so my last 5 coasters are: Stealth Nemesis Inferno Flying Fish Colossus X: No Way Out

    Ever been seriously jealous?

I get jealous when people get to go to parks and I don't, but I've been to way more parks than them so it's fine. Plus I'll get to spend the whole summer at Cedar Point, which will be better than any trip my friends make.
