Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

I think that the more they damage the park's USP as a mix of old and new, the more BPB looks like a **** modern-day theme park. That could end up being an issue if they aren't careful.

Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

It will be seen as a mistake from a heritage point of view - not just from the type of enthusiast who posts on here, but by the people of Blackpool. We will miss it terribly. It's the most significant ride that we've ever lost. Also, as I stated before, Icon will just be some other ride in 10...

Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

People will talk about the Mouse in 20 years' time and still miss it. Whatever short-term benefits and cost savings have led to this decision, they will turn out to be long-term mistakes.

That's the Haunted Swing gone as well then. Which would be more of the history trashed. Actually, I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember, but in that space opposite the Mouse, there used to be a simulator of The Beast. When i was little I was too scared to go on the big rides, so...

They will put some **** spinning ride there, or some walkthrough attraction, or retail and catering. No chance they are going to stick a proper ride in that space.

If they want space, there's a massive empty Space Invader mountain to work with, or sod it, rip out the Roller Coaster (it's not the "Nickelodeon Streak", it just isn't), as it's the one wooden ride that nobody local rates. Ironically, the Mouse is the best use of space I can imagine for a...

Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

Absolutely not just an enthusiasts ride. I don't even know any enthusiasts, but I do know that all the people I've taken to the Ples - friends and family, and randoms who've I chatted to about visits to my hometown, thought the Mouse was brilliant.

Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

This will upset a lot of locals though. it's not just GP vs. enthusiasts. Rightly or wrongly we think of some of the rides as ours, in the same way Londoners may feel about Tower Bridge. I'm still upset so not the best analogy but if you can get my broad point. Local historians won't be too...

The above is pretty incoherent. My next post will make sense. Promise.

Wild Mouse at BPB Closure - R.I.P. 1958-2017

Bastards! I'm from the South Shore area of Blackpool. The Pleasure Beach was my first ever job. Before that I spent almost every day of my adolescence there with my cousin and friends - that is when it was a place that was just part of the town to Blackpudlans and not ever referred to as a...
