    Gerstlauer for Pleasureland Southport?

The spec sheet given in the news article says it’ll have 8 riders per train, rather than the 9 of the old-style cars. Based on this it’s indeed looking like they’re going for the 2-row Lightning trains. With the smoothness improvements Matt mentioned above, plus the new train design, then...

    Mandoria | Merkant | Gerstlauer Bob Coaster | 2021

The uninterrupted POV starts from 3:10. Whilst I massively appreciate everyone that films rides for us, can we collectively agree that it’s not ideal to cut away from POV footage to put in off-ride footage from 3 different angles before cutting back to the POV for 3 seconds before another...

In your opinion, what's wrong with Derren Brown's Ghost Train, and why did it fail?

Good discussion and raised some thoughts I hadn’t considered about narrative. I agree with Heth that the weird timeline flip between Victorian warehouse & train exterior to modern Underground train interior felt completely off. @Nitefly I appreciated your take on the ride but this: …still...

Battle of the beyond-vertical drop coasters; Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter vs S&S El Loco

Completely agree with this - I quite enjoyed Mumbo Jumbo though it’s quite small and not world-beating. Fluch is absolutely incredible and shows how good Eurofighters can be, but Saw is so far the other direction, I think largely because of how rough and jolty it is.

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

God could you imagine The Ultimate with VR?! No warning of when to brace, the whimsical VR film completely at odds with the knee-battering you experience…

Luna Park Sydney | New Area & Park Overhaul | 2021

Just absolutely mad for it to be built so close to existing apartments. Amazed they got planning permission for a new thrill coaster, even if the park itself has existed long before the apartments were built.

    Magic Mountain vs. Cedar Point

@Pokemaniac - just wanted to say I really appreciate your consistently well-thought-out posts on the forum, often looking through historical trends for parks, countries or manufacturers the rest of us might not have thought of, always really well-written and engaging. Even on a straightforward...

    Cheetah at Wild Adventures retired

Looking forward to this (re)opening before Iron Gwazi :p Also great to see @ECG’s rumour-starting in the first post bear fruit 😀

    Lightwater Valley - Future?

Fantastic news, good on them. Key thing for us of course will be whether they can get The Ultimate back up and running - it’ll be absolutely gutting if they don’t. This is good though: Obviously Covid was a disaster for the park, but good to see they were still turning a profit the year...

    Mandoria | Merkant | Gerstlauer Bob Coaster | 2021

In a very similar sense, why on earth did Gerstlauer name this new model the ‘Bob Coaster’ when they already have the Bobsled model. It’s also very similar to their Junior Coasters and not far off the Family Coasters. Before hitting ‘post reply’ I had a closer look and I see the Bob coaster...

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

It’s hardly news but I enjoy Zamperla trying to break into the meme game: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQI7P9BB2_j/?utm_medium=copy_link

Nigloland | Krampus Expedition | Mack Water Coaster | 2021

I know what you mean. It also looks infinitely smoother than Poseidon so glad to see that Mack appear to have resolved the incredibly rough track from years before. After watching the POV I also get why they didn’t add the MCBR, but you do have to wonder what this has done to throughout. I...

    Tripsdrill | Hals-Über-Kopf & Volldampf | Vekoma STC & Family Boomerang Coaster

Vekoma have posted a nice video from the lift hill of H-U-K running amongst the new theming. The whole project looks fantastic and integrates into Tripsdrill so well. https://www.instagram.com/p/CP5m3mih-On/?utm_medium=copy_link

    Liseberg | Luna | Vekoma Family Boomerang | 2023

Are they replacing their existing flume? That’d be a real shame, I thought it was great fun, a real journey up the mountainside (great use of space), and of course amazing interaction with Helix and Lisebergbanan.

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

As of yesterday Europa Park is now served by Deutsche Bahn long distance trains between Frankfurt and Milan (via Switzerland), which stop at Ringsheim for the shuttle bus. The route is Frankfurt - Mannheim - Karlsruhe - Ringsheim - Freiburg - Basel - Luzern/Lucerne - Bellinzona - Chiasso -...

    Efteling Expansion + New Coaster

I think this is key. I lived in The Hague in 2013 and 2014 (just over an hour from Efteling) and when I told my Dutch colleagues I was going to the park, the reactions were all “oh I’ve been there - but isn’t it for children?” They had all been as kids - haven’t something like 90% of the Dutch...

    WTF Merlin?

I know what you mean but I don’t buy this at all. Merlin not only have a colossal investment firm behind them but also make a decent yearly profit. Looking at what many other European parks do with lower attendance and revenue (Hansa, Toverland, Tripsdrill; hell even the parks owned by the other...

    Silverwood | Stunt Pilot | RMC Raptor | 2021

I guess one of the cool attributes of the single-rail coasters is that their clearance envelopes can be that much smaller than full size trains - that barn fly-through looks ridiculously tight but will of course be fine for the narrower track & train.

Six Flags to close 15 rides in the chain after 2020

I never rode it before the new trains, but I really hope it sticks around too. One of the most insane experiences I’ve had at a theme park - there are coasters you get off and take a few minutes to work out what the hell just happened, and Goliath was definitely one of them. It was...
