Balder retracking now underway:
Surprised it will take so many months. If they’re already removing old track I would have thought that the replacement track would be prepared or near delivery, but presume not given the timeframe indicated.
Edit - just noticed Andreas Anderson, park CEO, used...
Ok thanks all, that’s useful.
Interestingly although RTH is listed as ‘closed today’ on the website and app, other coasters & rides E.g Anubis are listed as open, so I was assuming it was a result of the stall and that everything else was left described as ‘open’ unless down for refurb (like...
Sorry to bump this but has anyone heard anything about when Ride to Happiness will reopen following the recent stall?
I’ve seen nothing on their social media or website - just says ‘closed today’. I was hoping to go next week but without it being open I’ll cancel the trip. Saw a couple of bits...
Got to add The Ultimate to this. A tiny park in Yorkshire decide to not only build the longest roller coaster in the world, but also basically designed it in-house (with input from Big Country Motioneering) rather than go with a tried & tested manufacturer. And British Rail had to finish...
That’s true. I rode Kingda Ka a few days after TTD (my number 10, what a euphoric experience), and couldn’t believe how awful KK rode (not to mention the terrible operations too). Felt like half the screws holding the car together were working themselves out.
Just thinking through this and all the other answers - none of these record-breaking coasters are anywhere near my favourite coasters in the world, and I get the sense that’s true for most people.
The good news I guess is that it’s so cost-prohibitive to build longer, taller or faster so parks...
Honestly do we know what the deal is with these SFX coasters? Just insanely unreliable to never open, I don’t understand how they still get orders based on the farce of the Ferrari coaster never opening despite ostensibly being finished years ago.
In a similar way I’m surprised the company...
Similar to quite a few people:
Tallest: Kingda Ka
Fastest: Kingda Ka
Longest: The Ultimate
Steepest: Mumbo Jumbo
Inversions: The Smiler
Oldest: Rutschebanan
100x this! Exactly the coaster I thought of when I saw the thread title - a fun coaster yes, but nothing mind blowing.
Also completely agree with @Sandman on El Toro. Really rough with worse air time than Balder.
Also Magnum XL-200: the transition at the base of every valley is like being hit...
I agree that you’re all probably right we’ve seen the last of it, which I’m genuinely sad about because of how unique it is. And unfortunately the lack of maintenance required, vegetation on the track and high costs involved likely mean there won’t be some kind of last weekend of running we...
The first thing that strikes me with this move is that it’s an excellent boost for capacity - two boomerangs instead of one (and more fun given the duelling aspect), with an extra coaster on top that will probably run two trains as well.
Surely it will be the STC instead of an SFC? The...
I guess there’s not that much they could do with a plot that small - good on them for installing a coaster that kids may enjoy (and view as a bit intimidating given its height), even if the experience for adults is reportedly completely meh.
Another vote for “it depends”: on who’s answering, be it guests, enthusiasts, investors etc.
Does the average person/family visit a theme park outside of their local catchment area? Maybe they visit a local park and then say a bigger regional one, but as long as those offerings don’t overlap...
