I love the way they've taken some pretty generic flat rides and really gone to town on the theming. It really shows that flat rides can make exciting additions if you think creatively enough *looking at you Merlin!*
The way Amanda writes on Twitter reminds me of my aunt when she writes about cakes or something - endearing but really not a professional approach. The marketing team at BPB must sit there sweating when they see a notification pop up with her handle 😆

Alton Towers are teasing a new member of the Retrosquad this season. To be fair, the could really market anything when they put their minds to it - it looks good 😆
Roller coaster names are always a bit of a 'bone of contention' - I hated The Smiler as a name, thought it sounded stupid for a record-breaking coaster - but it works and can't see it being called anything else. Names grow on people and they soon get used to it.
I'm sure whatever they come up...
I'll stand by what I said all along, they needed a queue muncher like Juvelen at Djurs Sommerland.
Could have easily fit in with theme of Jumanji (arguably better than riding on a flying monkey) and wouldn't have had the glaringly obvious capacity issues.
The GP however will lap it up as it...
The problem with bright colours is they tend to fade pretty quickly, making things look a bit dull and run down even if they're a few years old. That's probably why M£rlin love grey and black - it lasts a lot longer without having to paint it.
When I visited, I did like the overall theme of...
Merlin's attractions basically get off the drawing board and into real life based on their marketability. Take Derren Brown's Ghost Train at Thorpe - on paper, it sounded thrilling and highly marketable but in real life, it was a (insert expletive of choice). However, you can't argue that the...
The maintenance apprentice is running to B&Q as we speak.
But in all seriousness, it's likely to be primer as Dragons Fury at Chessington is being repainted and is the same shade of silver before the main coat goes on. I'm sure it won't take them long to re-paint the new bits.
Potentially the train shells aren't ready as they're quite bespoke, so maybe they thought better to get it tested and they're added later?
Personally, I think this looks like an awesome family coaster, and looks much faster than I thought it would be. Gives me hope for Mandrill Mayhem at...
I fear what was meant to be a temporary stop-gap for COVID will now become a permanent fixture.
There are major projects lined up for the next 3 years;
- Duel Retheme (2023)
- Nemesis (2024)
- Project Horizon (2025)
And nowhere really in that timeline would I expect them to add in flat rides...
Really was it 5 years since their last major investment with Colossus?!
I personally loved the park when I visited in 2019, but it had definitely become a flat ride graveyard - empty slots everywhere and things hidden from view.
That is a very plausible connection between Jumanji and the...
Lets be honest, they should have saved themselves the effort and done this in the first place and not bothered with the VR 😆
Personally I am quite excited for this, it was always very well-themed inside, and it was the VR that was always the jarring element.
I look forward to seeing what...
A lot of theming is likely to be manufactured off-site (a client of mine is a theming fabricator and does this most of the time).
It's the easiest way to do it as they have all the tools and equipment in their workshop, rather than having to take it with them. The Jaguar shrine is obviously...
I imagine it will likely be patched up in places and maybe getting various elements refurbished or replaced to give it another 15 - 20 years of longevity.
Realistically without the guns, it's going to be a lot less temperamental so hopefully, it's money well spent!
