I really didn't enjoy the ride when it was at Liseberg. It was incredibly rough as soon as you rounded the top-hat, so I hope that's been sorted out - it is pretty much the park's premier draw so it needs to be pretty good.
I personally think it's quite refreshing and impressive that in this day and age, they've managed to keep it pretty much a total secret.
It will make the reveal even more exciting in my opinion ;)
I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Paultons is an independent theme park with far less red tape, and they have a vision that they bring to life alongside the contractors they use.
I think the problem with Merlin is there are 'too many cooks' and too many factors within the company...
I would like them to use a Japanese IP in replacement instead of Transformers. Japan has such a fantastic anime and manga scene, and although I'm personally not a huge fan, I know there is a huge audience that are.
When I visited a few years ago, they had an anime VR overlay over their...
I'm excited for this, planning to go in August this year.
The only disappointment is they appear to have cheaped out and not used Tom Holland - shame ;)
Do you have a link to the tweet? I'm intrigued as it's taken 19 years to get a new coaster, so would be good to know what they're thinking if we won't have to wait long for another!
I can't quite believe that they're actually building this - surely this ride will kill people 🤣
It's literally like something you'd make on RCT2 but not finish it and just send people hurtling off a cliff!
It looks great, and it certainly looks like it's sped up a bit since initial tests too.
It's going to be a perfect fit for the park. Having been, I did feel like it was missing another major coaster, as I felt the rides they have at the park are nice and well-themed, but not particularly...
A recent construction update from PortAventura goes into great detail about the testing process. They've confirmed cars are on the track and it's testing.
Still looks very sparse in the building - but I imagine the theming will go in once they've finished the tests.
The hardware is going to be swallowing a majority of the cost, so there will likely be minimal theming and some paving. I think it can be forgiven considering the scale of this investment - which is likely going to be one of the biggest the park has ever had.
I'm envisaging something a bit...
So it looks like they're operating a free virtual queuing system via their app for Mandrill Mayhem. The videos pretty explanatory, but I do think it's a good idea. I know Thorpe used it for Derren Brown and Black Mirror during COVID, and I found it worked very well and kept the queue fairly...
Stranger Things will likely be very expensive at the moment - Thorpe will pick it up in 2035 when it's cheap, and they can do the 4th iteration of X:// No Way Out.
Not sure if it's worthy of going into a construction topic yet, but the site is being boarded up - which must mean construction for the new 2024 coaster is starting imminently.
I'm genuinely excited to see what they come up with, the recent additions have really strengthened the resort after...
If I remember correctly, I'm sure they didn't need to do much to it. I believe they added some vines to the station and repainted that, and the trains were given an unclean look with some haphazard painting, but I'm not sure they painted the track - they just haven't cleaned it 😆
