Thanks for the heads up ATI! Seems like it was media day today, so some rather nice footage has emerged:
Think it's safe to say Vekoma have pulled of a stunner here. It slows down once it crests the lift, but that pacing is just incredible! Can't wait to see a full backseat POV!
Looks it's...
As if Phantasialand needed to be higher on my bucket list...
Since Thunderbird, I've always fantasised about a launched flyer of some kind. If they're fitting the World's longest flying coaster into that area, Vekoma does certainly seem like the logical choice with tighter radii, a smaller track...
Here's one I found which says it's from 2 days ago:
To the naked eye, it does look like it crests the false drop a little slower. However, it might be easier to tell if we had a clip of the quad down.
They may also have added new parts (or just replaced parts) in the wheel assemblies that...
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but just didn't find it a particularly cohesive and engaging show. And yes, yes, you do. Everybody does.
Aaaaanyway. Long time no updates. Quite frankly, I haven't figured out how to save drafts on the new website yet and just haven't had enough time or...
Hear, hear. Voted in my first general election today just after my last first year exam! Thought I'd have to wait until 2020, but I was happy to be proven wrong ;)
It's really strange actually. My last A-level exam was on the 23rd June last year, so there's a bit of theme going on...
Surprised Katun hasn't been mentioned yet. It's absolutely stellar in the dark - there's very, very little light, the amount of force it generates is terrific and there's nothing quite like the rush of air you get on B&M inverts, especially when you can't see where you're going. Tbf all the B&M...
On top of that, we can be pretty certain it's a non-inverting loop due to the shape and order of some of the pieces that have shown up so far:
The piece on the far right here is labelled "43"; considering the pieces in that inclined-dive loop turnaround thing are numbered in the mid 70s, it...
To me a can is anything with a ring pull....but I use them pretty much interchangeably.
But isn't the technical term a tin can? So surely both 'tin' and 'can' are just abbreviations of the same phrase? ;)
Wow, just wow...
Also, thanks everyone trawling the internet and posting these updates - they always make my day better ;) It's also fantastic that we can actually share these photos freely (unlike*coughcough* TPR)
The question is, where does it go next? The original design had the track head...
A barrel roll similar to Joker's Step-up under flip would be brilliant. However, if that is the plan, I wouldn't expect that many more bents to be added to the structure.
If you look at another photo (from the same source), assuming the drop angle will be bordering on 90 degrees and be similar...
Great news! On a sie note, it's always nice to see a defunct coaster (especially a B&M) operating again! Funny to see how it's next to a lake again.
Looks like the SFC is open(?) as well from this video I found, which also contains some good footage of Dragon Run:
The park looks beautiful...
Whilst I haven't been to Heide yet, I'm gonna go out on a whim and say Gardaland. It's just the least 'Merlin' park if them all, which does speak volumes about Merlin :/
As a coaster enthusiast, of course I'd say Alton, but theme parks have always been about having good day out as well. Quite...
Whilst it's difficult to tell whether or not the brake run turned out be rough from the video, if you watch from about 3:43 in the video, you can quite clearly see a LOT of lateral movement of the trains on the pullout. I know this does also occur on other Intamin launchers (especially Kingda...
If they were a smaller, independent park which was genuinely struggling with its finances, I'd understand. But for a park like Alton, austerity measures will never work.
4:30 closing is pitiful. Let's also not forget the majority of attractions in the last few years have been upcharges...
The...
Also managed to get a lap on it yesterday night, right in the back row! I was expecting it to be absolutely rammed, but it was actually only running two trains, so the queue wasn't a problem.
It was what I was expecting really. It's not a top 10 coaster by any means, but a fantastic ride...
It's the end of an era isn't it? But nonetheless, the start of a new one I'm really excited for. I think I'll finish one last project on Rct3 and then get Planet Coaster over Christmas.
Enjoy yourself - it looks fab!
Hopefully this can drum up as much enthusiasm as its predecessor did - I...
A few come to mind:
- Saw's indoor section is fab - the rest is just a bit ****e, as we all know ;)
- First Drop of Raptor (Gardaland) with its surprising amount of airtime, before it starts meandering around the rest of the layout
- Obviously, Th13teen's Drop section
- Vampire's tunnel
-...
Yeah, I think it could be quite good too, as I did enjoy Joker and this is virtually the same thing. However, it did take a fair while to get going and then was over too quickly - looking at the whip on that first turn, hopefully having the LSMs will solve that. Capacity should be improved as...
Count me in as another fan of that new Mack concept! There's definitely room for more thrilling spinning coaster layouts - they seem quite an undeveloped ride type on the whole. However, after the airtime hill, the layout seems a bit minimalistic. It's essentially just the same element...
It's not fantastically clear as it was taken out of a car window, but here's a little look at some of that track, plus a little bit more they've added to the bunny hop since that photo was taken:
At the rate they're currently going, an opening next year is looking more and more likely! Looks...
