Sounds like an annoying day, very easy to have at Chessington. I have a lot of nostalgia for the place and love feel of the park in places, people on here will have heard me yapping on about the Gruffalo / Vampire courtyard. However, it does suffer massively if any of the bigger rides are down...
I’ve got a reliable source, Contractor that worked as part of the hyperia project team, and they’ve said the problems are a mixture of issues with the chain, the lift motor and a sprocket at the top of the lift hill. In the closed season there needs to be pretty extensive work to the lift hill...
Taken from the Green Party website -
'The Green Party wants to see a world without borders, until this happens the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so'
'To build a world in which no one needs to seek asylum...
I'll be voting labour. I'm a lefty through and through and whilst its sad to see the current labour crop heading much more centrist there's still a bit of me that hopes it's just a strategy to appease the masses pre election, and they'll move back to the left once in power. Starting to doubt...
I wouldn't rule out Gravity Group. They offer 'hybrid' coasters and inversions. There's definitely a concrete link to the park as well, GG have provided tenders / proposals for the park previously. Something akin to Switchback at ZDT's with an inversion or launch thrown in would be my punt.
I managed 3 rides last night. Two in the back, one in the front. Easily best ride in the UK for me, the airtime, huge elements, first drop and lapbars just offer something we've not really had over here before. Its a bit short, and it doesnt really feel like a hyper coaster, but all the elements...
Having seen a few IP / Theme predictions floating around I wanted to put my thoughts into a post. Potentially controversial, but I think the over utilisation of British themes would be a mistake. (Potter excluded). I worry about how us Brits would receive something that could be considered a...
Thorpe are still running the park hours Oktoberfest where people can have beer, pretzels and roller coasters zooming in the background though. This is just Thorpe tapping into a huge potential revenue stream utilising their abundance of space and social reach to create non park / ride reliant...
I dont get the hate on this one. Oktoberfest events outside of parks are very popular, with similar pricing if not worse. My local Southampton one easily sells out a friday, saturday and sunday and has done for the last few years, they serve overpriced beer and bratwursts, put on an oompah band...
2012 is regularly cited as a dud year when it came to UK Theme Park attendance. The 2012 Olympics, hosted in London, coupled with the 2nd highest yearly rainfall have regularly been cited as reasons for the poor reception of The Swarm at Thorpe Park. The major Merlin parks (excluding Legoland...
Do you have anymore details about it being part funded by ACE? I remember the funding of this ride is somewhat interesting, with a few articles suggesting the park owner put a significant amount of his personal savings towards the ride. First I've heard about any ACE involvement though.
Looks a fun layout for a dive machine. Shame there's no themeing / tunnel / ground work around the first drop, such a simple thing that greatly improves the ride from both the riders and non riders perspective.
Being selfish I'd have preferred a quad bike launch coaster but grateful for any kind of coaster addition. May actually have to pull my finger out and visit the park once its built, its only 2 hours from me.
Had a more detailed read through the planning app and thought this section on nearby competitors and need for investment was interesting, with regards to both Paultons and The London Resort.
