It looks fantastic. With the Skyfly within the helix, they’ve pulled off something I could have only dreamed about doing in rollercoaster tycoon, it’s perfectly done.
Also great to see the amount of greenery throughout the area, and the immersive touches that all make a difference, eg the...
I know we’re all on this forum because we care more about coasters and parks far more than the average person, but I just can’t imagine the general public care even the slightest bit about the 90s original story. To be honest I haven’t heard of any of the back story other than snippets I’ve read...
Would Gravity Group not have some liability here? Or because Fun Spot organised the contractors (is this normal?) then GG have no consequence (and are probably upset at the impact to their reputation)?
Could it be that the pile-drivers etc for the required coffer dam are simply too big to fit around Iron Dragon, as opposed to the smaller equipment that would have been required for Mantis that could have been lifted or even driven in without affecting ID.
I’m presuming the height of the...
The photos are really intriguing and of course I’m going to look at them, but part of me laments the fact people have drones and can capture every aspect of construction that might otherwise be secret - I feel slightly sorry for parks who want to build mystery and reveal things when ready.
I...
There are obvious parallels with Merlin’s theming style but at least it’s colourful, upbeat, quirky and slightly whimsical. We’ve spoken for ages about how Merlin’s is always dark and drab so I can appreciate Walibi’s use of colour and humour, even if not particularly to my taste and obviously...
My only criticism is that I’m not into the brown supports, but otherwise looks like it’ll have some great forces from the quick transitions and that camelback.
I know it’ll be a short walk but I find it weird they didn’t put it on the car park between the El Loco and the woodie to tie them all together a bit more - now they’re all a bit strung out and with the car park there almost gives the impression you’re leaving the park.
That track looks a bit… wrong, for want of a better word. Seems like the cross ties are particularly thin and sparse, yet it must still bear reasonable weight or force given it’s tri-track? 😕
So weird that ‘welcoming’ is spelt like that in the press release…
Looks good though. Still worried about capacity but hopeful for great operations. Also I was thinking that half the train forwards and half backwards would have worked quite well - this way there could be quite a queue for the...
Does anyone know the notional cost difference between the RMC and Intamin single rail coasters? Wondering if Intamin would still be priced lower as trying to break into the market, and if certain features for example the drive tyres and tyre-based braking system make it cheaper.
I think the...
Noooo, I thought Rougarou was far too rough to be enjoyable, whereas at least Valravn is properly smooth.
Agree with most of the comments - by most metrics it’s a very good coaster but at CP doesn’t stand out at all, and slows down far too much on the MCBR. It’s definitely enjoyable though and...
I guess I never really experienced ‘old Thorpe’ but on my first visit over 11 years ago I thought the area looked rubbish - tired & run-down. Loggers was a pretty good log flume but had clearly seen much better days, and the area seemed to only deteriorate since then.
Bit of a quieter year than some of the great ones in this thread!
- Coaster count at start of 2022: 172
- Coaster count at end of 2022: 182
- New coasters ridden in 2022: 10
- New parks visited in 2022: 2 (Plopsaland & Wiener Prater)
- Best new-to-you coaster: Ride to Happiness obviously. When...
Everything about this is pretty ridiculous.
I wonder what the effect of construction of these giant modern coasters will be on parks around the world. Will there be little impact because frankly few people will ride them? Or will their reputation and impact/impressions on social media result in...
That’s a shame, not least because I’m curious what GCI could do with a full inverting Titan-tracked ride design.
It’s a coaster that really needed something doing to it though - I found it immensely rough a couple of years ago, definitely not re-rideable. The new layout looks like it will be a...
@MrRC - always great to have you close to Vlodrop for the updates! Hope it is the inclined turntable - I’m kind of imagining similar sensations to some of the great trick track on Winjas which I bloody love.
