Universal considering UK theme park in Bedford

Yeah I wouldn't trust a word of that Mirror article, since it's all things we pretty much know already along with a guess as to how long it will take to build. If they had some inside source I'd expect some kind of new information.

The whole 'given the go ahead' but with 'financial arrangements still to be agreed with the Treasury' is exactly where we thought it was before isn't it? Both sides haven't said no, but they are in negotiations so it's still a bit up in the air.

Whilst I wouldn't trust a newspaper, this does have the ring of truth to it. For one thing, it's just too... modest to be a lie. 500-room hotel? If I was making it up, I'd have said 1000! Four themed zones? I'd have said five. It all sounds exactly like what we'd get in Britain - a slightly lesser version than it might be! :p

Four themed zones sounds very much like:

  • Harry Potter
  • Jurassic Park
  • Nintendo
  • Dreamworks

It also happens to be the details from Epic Universe. The Helios hotel in the park is 500 rooms and there's 4 themed areas (plus the middle hub area).

I really think they just made it up.

They didn't make up those details, they've been around for a while....

Discussion on the project in the house of commons today:

Of course with it being Prime Minister's Questions nobody actually said anything that had any substance whatsoever, but it's good to at least hear it being mentioned at this level.

The wording of the members in the meeting definitely looks like they all know it's going ahead. One of them even corrected himself saying "....if Universal... when Universal comes".

Would be such a huge disappointment if the Universal decision was a no at this point.
Would be, and I'm not 100% confident it's a yes like some people are.

They have to be watching the global situation at the minute, don't they? Is now a good time to build a massive theme park that will rely heavily on international tourism? On the other hand, I suppose that, new political leaders and a lot of gas bagging aside, it's not really changed too much since the proposal first broke. 🤞

I'm about 80/20, I'm sure it is a yes, and that's why we're seeing bits of movement, but I'm still a little nervous.

One thing that stood out to me in that video was that Jon Shortland is clearly trying to deliver the much needed railway station to the local community, and yet has to slow things down for Universal. I thought his annoyance showed when he responded with "I think the biggest difficulty we have at the moment is that the plans for the Universal version of the station don't exist in detail." And then went on to imply that they don't even know how many tracks the universal station would need for it's '4 platforms.'

I just read that Universal have this month injected £140m into the UK companies setup / purchased as part of the UK project, by creating additional shares.

I'm trying to validate this now, as detail was missing, and whilst I can't find any solid evidence yet, I did see on Companies House that a second confirmation statement was filed for Cloud Wing, 9 months earlier than it was due under normal 'annual' circumstances... Because they created a new share!!! Sadly, no figures need to be included in a CS.

Will keep digging, unless somebody else already knows more, and forgot to share it already? (This did happen a couple of weeks ago, I've just not been on the ball.)

At the moment I am testing Gemini Deep Search quiet a lot, so today out of curiosity I asked it how likely the theme park will be. The result doesn't give much news, but a good overview about everything which is known at the moment and also how likely it is with the current theme park situation in the UK.

As the report is quiet big, I will attach the PDF here. I just find it interesting how detailed AI is with his answers nowadays. I hope this kind of posts are okay :)
