No statement what have happened yet or if someone have been hurt.
By the look of it then the opening of Oceana will have to wait until a later date unfortunately..

EDIT: there have been some reports of an explosion before the fire broke out in the tower.

I am literally lost for words.

@FogZog I am also so curious about this. I can imagine that the explosions were called by gas bottles used e.g. for welding.
@Tonkso The Waterpark was scheduled to open this year, but was not yet finished.

Apparently there are 12 people with light injuries.
According to NCC (Builder) then they suspect that the fire started by work done by a subcontractor. But are not going to say anything more until an investigation is done.
Thankfully the build is fully insured so that it will be rebuilt, but the opening will have to wait until a later date, hopefully the fire haven't damaged the structure too bad so they have to completely demolish it and start from scratch.

Tolv lindrigt skadade efter branden: ”Surrealistiskt”

Branden vid Lisebergs nya badhus Oceana spred sig ”surrealistiskt snabbt”. Det säger Ragnar Marsland, som såg branden från sitt fönster, till GP. Till en början trodde han att räddningstjänsten skulle lyckas släcka lågorna. Sen hörde han en explosion.

I was at the site less than two months ago. I was looking forward to visiting it once it opened in the summer, but that’s not gonna happen now.

I just hope no one got seriously hurt and it’s not a total hull loss.

To be sure I'm reading this right, is the fire contained to the waterpark, or affecting the regular park too?

It’s contained to the water park afaik. The Grand Curiosa hotel separates Oceana from the rest of Liseberg and so far that’s been unaffected.

The fire is contained to the water park. It happened around the water slide tower which is the furthest away from the dry park and hotel. It's been a ton of smoke which might have caused some damage to the hotel or nearby buildings. Otherwise I dont think there has been any physical damage. I am still ordered not to leave my house, so haven't taken a look yet, except what's visible through my window. It's still smoking but a lot less than before.

It's been snowing all day which probably has helped a lot with settling the smoke, it has been so much of it. Doubt any equipment in that park is reusable, maybe not even the roof structure.
