Definitely agree with all of this. While Merlin can do really high quality stuff, a lot of cases in their rides, they have highs and lows in them and its VERY noticeable, while Paultons seems to focus more on consistency, which I think is more beneficial in the long term. I'd rather pick a park...

If i had to guess, its because of many reasons. Dark colours n coasters don't age well. Look at the smiler, that was a bleak and shiny black when it opened 10 years ago, now its a mix of a dull grey and rust, which doesn't look all that good IMO. The bright red and black will age horribly, look...

From what I've heard, there's be quite a few complaints from families about it being 'too scary' for their kids. Maybe they went a bit overboard on the scare and dark factor. It makes me think how well this ride will be recieved towards GP families.

Pretty reasonable. Duel would probably be a 4 to me. The Haunted House (original) would probably get an 8. What's funny is that Ghost Castle was also designed by Sparks (same people who did the original haunted house.) I wonder if Alton Towers maintained the original ride in the same way Europa...
