hey all,

i dont know if anyone on the forums is like me, but sometimes i do find it hard to understand what some of you boys are on about when you use acronyms for parks and rides ect.... i have looked in the "info" section of the website but cant seem to see a list of them all.

So maybe we could get a list going here for anyone else that is like me and struggles some times.

a few that i have grown a custom to are :

PARKS:

SFMM - six flags magic mountain
SFOG - six flags over georgia
SFNE - six flags new england
CP - Cedar Point
AT - alton towers
TP - Thorpe Park
CWOA - Chessington world of adventure

RIDES:

PMBO - Pepsi max Big One
RQOS - Rita Queen of speed ( now called rita)
GASM - Great American Scream machine

I do hope i havent waisted any of my time in trying to help the commmunity. ( knowing my luck, someone will have a monster list somewere lol )

Not rally a ride, but:

MCBR: Mid cource brake run.
When I was a newbie I didn't know what it meant. Good topic.

In most cases, writing the name fully is the best thing to do. Really, there is a great room for confusion here, so do it whenever you can. However, there are some acronyms we see almost every day. You covered most of them up there, but here are a few more.

AA - Atlantis Adventure
ACE - American Coaster Enthusiasts. Refers to both the group and the "seal of originality" they give rides.
BGA or BGT - Busch Gardens Africa/Busch Gardens Tampa
BGE or BGW - Busch Gardens Europe/Busch Gardens Williamsburg
BTR or B:TR - Batman: The Ride. May also refer to any clones of the original layout, regardless of name
CCI - Custom Coasters International
CF - Cedar Fair
DB - Diamondback
DD - Dueling Dragons (Now Dragon Challenge, still many insist on using the old (better) name).
DLP - Disneyland Paris
EGF - Expedition GeForce
E-stop - Emergency Stop
GCI - Great Coasters International, inc.
GF - GhosterForce, CoasterForce's annual Halloween meetup.
GG - (The) Gravity Group
HRRR - Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit
I305 - Intimidator 305
KD - Kings Dominion (formerly PKD, Paramount Kings Dominion)
KI - Kings Island
KK or Ka - Kingda Ka
LIM - Linear Induction Motor
LSM - Linear Synchronous Motor
MCBR - Mid Course Brake Run
MF - Millennium Force
MM - Mystery Mine
MS - Maurer & Söhne
NL - No Limits
OTSR - Over The Shoulder Restraints
PBB or BPB - Pleasure Beach Blackpool or Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
P'n'P - Plug 'n' Play, prefabricated wooden coaster, such as El Toro.
POV - Point Of View (video) - on-ride video usually filmed from the first row of a coaster.
PTC - Philadelphia Toboggan Company
PTR - Photo Trip Report
RCT - Roller Coaster Tycoon
RFII - Ravine Flyer II
ROS - Ride of Steel at Darien Lake (Formely Superman: Ride of Steel)
RoTM - Revenge Of The Mummy
SBNO - Standing But Not Operating
SD2K - Steel Dragon 2000
SF - Six Flags (usually the Six Flags chain as a whole)
SLC - Suspended Looping Coaster
SoB - Son of Beast
SROS or S:ROS - Superman: Ride of Steel. The best-known of these is now called Bizarro.
S&S - S&S Power. What the Ss stand for is anybody's guess.
SUF - Superman: Ultimate Flight
Timmy - Intimidator (not 305)
Toro - El Toro
TOT - Tower of Terror. Usually refers to the Disney ride, not the Dreamland coaster.
TR - Trip Report
Q, Q-bot - Queue, Queue bot (automatic queueing system)
WT - Wicked Twister

Some sites as well:
BGFans - Busch Gardens fansite
CC - CoasterCounter
CF - I shouldn't have to explain this.
RCDB - Roller Coaster Data Base
TTF - Tower Times Forums (Alton Towers Fansite)
TPR - Theme Park Review

Most of these used to confuse me back when... ahh... memories.
I deliberately left out B&M because, frankly, nobody uses it. Apart from that, though, did I miss anything? I probably did, but these should be the most used. Hope I was of help!

In all the Six Flags parks, you might see a "6" or an "S" representing the Six part of the park name...
6FOT = Six Flags Over Texas
6FGAm = Six Flags Great America
6FGAdv = Six Flags Great Adventure
6FA = Six Flags America
6FStL = Six Flags Saint Louis
6FOG = Six Flags Over Georgia
6FMM = Six Flags Magic Mountain
6FDK = Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
6FM = Six Flags Mexico
6FFT = Six Flags Fiesta Texas
6FNE = Six Flags New England
LR = Can be LaRonde
GE = Might be Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom

For Cedar Fair:
CP = Cedar Point
CGA = California's Great America
KBF = Knott's Berry Farm
CW = Could be Carowinds OR Canada's Wonderland
KI = Kings Island
DP = Dorney Park
KD = Kings Dominion
WOF = Worlds of Fun
VF = Valleyfair

AA might be Alabama Adventure, Atlantis Adventure, or American Adventure

Good luck... There's a million, and they seem to change more than you'd expect due to repeated sales of the parks.

(I always used BPPB for Blackpool, but I'm just a dumb American.)

I think its after the founders names. Stan Checketts and his wife... Sally, maybe? That sounds right.

There's obviously WDW -Walt Disney world

AK - Animal Kingdom
DLP - Disneyland Paris
WDS - Walt Disney Studios
TDL - Tokyo Disneyland
TDS - Tokyo Disneysea
DL - Disneyland
